1. 2017 Mahindra XUV500 Facelift
Over the years, the XUV500 has brought a lot many new customers under the Mahindra umbrella. However, with new models like the Hexa coming in, the XUV seems to be losing the edge it enjoyed over immediate competition. Not to be one to lose hope, Mahindra is now working to launch a more powerful version of the XUV500. The 2017 XUV500 could offer 170 PS and 330 Nm. The updated XUV500 could even come with more features and tweaked styling.
Expected Launch Date | Late 2017 |
Estimated Price | Rs. 12-16 lakh |
Engine | 2. 2 L Turbo Diesel |
Transmission | 6-speed Manual/6-speed Automatic |
2. 2017 Mahindra Scorpio Facelift
The other popular Mahindra product, the Scorpio, will also receive a major facelift this year. The upcoming Scorpio facelift will be the first major makeover in the last three years or so. While not much is known about the upcoming facelift from Mahindra, chances are that the SUV will get updates to its front- and rear-end design. Even the interior could see some minor changes. Mechanically, the 2017 Scorpio might get a 140 BHP 2.2-litre mHawk engine from the current XUV500. Transmission options will include a six-speed manual and a six-speed automatic unit.
Expected Launch Date | End 2017 |
Estimated Price | Rs. 10-15 lakh |
Engine | 2.2 L Diesel |
Transmission | 6-speed Manual/6-speed Automatic |
3. Mahindra TUV300 Plus
Mahindra is working on an extended wheelbase variant of the TUV300. It has been spotted testing on several occasions. This upcoming SUV from Mahindra will be longer than the TUV300, which means it will not be able to duck under the 4-meter small car length cap. However, the extra length will enable Mahindra to provide more seats. Prices are likely to start at Rs 7.5 lakh. Powering the TUV300 Plus will be the 1.99-litre mHawkD120 120 BHP engine of the Delhi-spec Scorpio.
Expected Launch Date | Feb 2018 |
Estimated Price | Rs. 7.5-9.8 lakh |
Engine | 1.99 L Diesel |
Transmission | 5-speed Manual |
4. Mahindra U321 MPV
Next on our list of upcoming Mahindra cars in India is the U321 (codename) MPV. The upcoming Toyota Innova Rival from Mahindra promises to be a much more premium product than the Xylo. It has been spotted testing near Chennai on multiple occasions and a production ready version could be unveiled by the end of 2017 or early 2018. The Xylo wasn’t exactly a very successful product for Mahindra. Especially when you take into account the fact that Mahindra is quite good with UVs. Now, it seems the manufacturer is working on an all new product to take the fight to the Innova once again. With Indian buyers fast losing interest in the MPV segment with the exception of the Innova, Mahindra will have to come up with something quite good.
Expected Launch Date | End 2017 |
Estimated Price | Rs. 10-12 lakh |
Engine | 2.2 L Diesel |
Transmission | 5-speed Manual/6-speed Auto |
5. XUV Aero
The very attractive and very cool XUV Aero Concept could enter production in the coming years. It blends the design of coupe and an SUV into one head-turning package. Details are scarce but expect the XUV Aero to cost somewhere around 20 lakhs. While Mahindra did shed some light on its specifications, we’ll have to wait till the launch to find out what exactly ends up powering the SUV-Coupe. This one is easily the most interesting car on our list of Upcoming New Mahindra Cars in India.
Expected Launch Date | End 2018 |
Estimated Price | Rs. 20 lakh |
Engine | 2.2 L Diesel |
Transmission | 6-speed Automatic |
6. Ssangyong Tivoli Based Mahindra S201 (XUV 300)
Although Mahindra was expected to bring the Tivoli to India as the second Ssangyong product, that is not going to happen. Instead, Mahindra will launch a new small SUV based on the Tivoli to rival the likes of the Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster. According to our sources, the new SUV will be shorter than the Tivoli. It will come to us in 2018 as the XUV 300. The new 2018 Mahindra XUV 300 will go on to rival Hyundai Creta and Renault Duster. The XUV 300 will have a starting price of around Rs 9 lakh. It will be available in both Petrol and Diesel variants. While the Petrol variants will come with the new 1.5-litre TGDI engine, the Diesel models will get the 1.5-litre mHawk100 from TUV300.
The upcoming Mahindra small SUV will mainly rival all the above models. Of these, out-performing the Hyundai Creta on the sales charts will be the biggest challenge. Also, with the new Nissan Kicks headed to India, the XUV300 will have another world-class rival. Being a 5-seater, the new SUV won’t really eat into the sales of its older sibling, the Scorpio.
Expected Launch Date | Second Half 2018 |
Estimated Price | Rs. 9-14 lakh |
Engine | 1.5 L Petrol/1.5 L Diesel |
Transmission | 6-speed Manual/6-speed Automatic |
7. Mahindra XUV700
The production version of the next generation Rexton based on the Ssangyong LIV-2 concept revealed in Paris back in September 2016 was revealed in March 2017. Expect the next generation 2017 Ssangyong Rexton to hit showrooms by the end of 2017. In India, the new gen Rexton will come wearing a Mahindra badge and will rival the likes of the Toyota Fortuner and Ford Endeavour. It’s likely to be called the XUV700.

Let’s accept it, the KUV100 is far from a hot-seller. Also, the advent of Maruti Ignis seems to have taken everyone’s attention away from M&M’s micro-SUV. However, the manufacturer looks ready to solve this with the introduction of the KUV100 NXT, which comes with a minor facelift. The front- and rear-end of the KUV 100 are likely to receive some botox to look fresher and prettier. Engine options are likely to remain the same.
