Upcoming New Cars in India 2017 (February, 2017)

New Honda City Facelift

The new Honda City facelift could be launched anytime now. The new City facelift comes gets a handful of cosmetic updates and a few extra features. Also, it’s likely to get a six speed gearbox for both Petrol and Diesel variants.

New Toyota Prius

Also headed our way this month is the new generation Toyota Prius. We have already driven this car and are pretty impressed with the way this popular Hybrid has evolved. You can read our test drive review here. The new Prius Hybrid should launch here by the end of this month. Prices could fall in the Rs 40-45 Lakh bracket. The upcoming model will soon one of the most advanced cars to be on sale in India.

New Mercedes E Class

The new generation Mercedes E Class will launch in India this month. The upcoming new E Class will become the first all-new model by Mercedes to launch in India this year. Of course, with prices expected to start at Rs 60 lakh, the new E Class will be considerably pricier than the outgoing model. Engine options are likely to be a 2.0 Litre Petrol and a 3.0 Litre Diesel.

Maruti Baleno RS

The much awaited Baleno RS will launch in India this month. The Maruti Baleno RS will become the most powerful Baleno ever. It will feature a 1.0 litre Turbocharged Petrol engine that will output 100 BHP of max. power. Prices could start at roughly Rs 7.70 lakh. The new Baleno RS will become one of the most affordable hot hatches in India.

Honda WRV

The Jazz-based SUV is headed to India. Expected to launch in March, 2017, the new Honda WRV will rival the likes of Hyundai i20 Active. It will share its engines with the Jazz. However, it looks a lot more rugged, which is thanks to bits like beefier bumpers and side body cladding. Prices could start at Rs 7 lakh.

Tata Tigor

Tata will launch the cheapest sedan in India in April, 2017. Called the Tata Tigor, the upcoming new compact sedan for India is based on the Tiago hatchback. Prices are very likely to start at Rs 4 lakh. The Tigor will be basically a Tiago with a much bigger booth, which will give the Tigor a significant advantage over many other cars in its price range. This car could very well become a game changer of sorts for Tata Motots.

New Chevrolet Beat

Chevrolet India is likely to launch the new Beat in March this year. The new Chevrolet Beat could have a starting price of Rs 3.9 lakh and will boast of a fresher exterior. It is also likely to offer more features. Engines will be carried over from the current model, which means there won’t be anything new with the tech specs of the upcoming car.

Chevrolet Essentia (Beat Compact Sedan)

Chevrolet India is expected to launch the Essentia compact sedan soon after the new Beat. The Essentia is basically a compact sedan derivative of the new Beat. It will be a main rival to the Tata Tigor. Pricing will be very competitive. We expect the starting price to be roughly Rs 4.10 lakh. Tech specs will be largely similar to those of the new Beat.

New Maruti Grand Vitara

Maruti could launch the new Grand Vitara in India around April this year. Prices are likely to start at Rs 12 lakh. The new Grand Vitara will share its engine with the Scross 1.6, which means it will get a 1.6 L Multijet Turbo Diesel mill from Fiat. All Wheel Drive could be offered as an option. 

BMW i3

Another interesting car that might launch in India in coming months is the BMW i3. The i3 is an all electric hybrid that is powered by a 125 kW electric motor. It will come to India via CBU route, hence pricing would be steep. We expect a sticker price of Rs 1 Crore. The future of motoring is headed to India!

New Hyundai Sonata Hybrid

The Sonata is coming back to India! Hyundai will likely launch the new Sonata Hybrid in India in April this year. Prices could start at roughly Rs 29 lakh. Powering the upcoming new Sonata is a 2.0 L Petrol mill and a 38 kW Electric motor.

New Volkswagen Passat

Another name that will make its re-entry into India is the Volkswagen Passat. The upcoming new Volkswagen Passat will come to us with three engine options- 1.8 L Turbo Petrol, 2.0 L Turbo Diesel and a 1.4 L + Electric Motor Hybrid. The Hybrid variant will take on the likes of Honda Accord and Toyota Camry Hybrid. Prices will fall in the Rs 27 to Rs 40 lakh bracket.

New Audi A4 Diesel (35 TDI)

We just loved the new Audi A4 when we drove it between Bhubhaneshwar and Puri last year. You can read our new Audi A4 Test Drive review here. Audi India launched the new A4 here with a 1.4 TSI Petrol motor. Now, however, it is about to launch the new car with its tried and tested 2.0 TDI Diesel motor. Upcoming New Cars in India 2017 (May, 2017)

Audi Q2

Audi India could launch the all-new Audi Q2 small SUV around May this year. The Q2 will become Audi’s entry-level SUV and will find itself positioned below the Q3. The Q2 won’t be a hardcore off roader, but will instead try and establish itself as a competent crossover. Quattro is likely to come as an option. Expect prices to begin at Rs 23 Lakhs.

New Nissan X-Trail

Another brand that’s about to make a comeback is the Nissan X-Trail. Nissan will most likely launch the new Nissan X-Trail in India in the month of May. Prices will start at Rs 32 Lakh. The new Nissan X-Trail won’t have a Diesel heart. Instead, it will come with a petrol-hybrid powerplant that will comprise of a 2.0 L Petrol engine and the RM31 Electric Motor.

New Hyundai Verna

Hyundai will launch the new Verna in India in May, 2017. The new Hyundai Verna will sport an all-new design that looks a lot fresher and attractive. It will have a starting price of little more than Rs 8 lakh. Engines will be carried over from the current model. The new Hyundai Verna will try and claim some of the popularity it has lost to the Honda City and the Maruti Ciaz.

Toyota Vios

Another new car launch that is likely to happen in May, 2017 is that of the Toyota Vios. The Toyota Vios will be positioned above the Etios twins but will be priced lower than the Corolla. It will get a 1.5 L petrol motor and a 1.4 L Diesel engine. The new Toyota sedan for India is likely to cost Rs 9 Lakh to Rs 11.5 Lakh. It will rival the likes of Toyota Corolla Altis and the Honda City.
