We are more than half way through 2017 and we have already witnessed a handful of new motorcycle launches this year. However, the onslaught of new bikes is far from over, as we expect at least 13 new exciting motorcycles to launch in India in 2017 and in 2018. These upcoming motorcycles include bikes from manufacturers ranging from Hero MotoCorp and TVS to models from internationally known companies like Kawasaki and BMW Motorrad. For easy of readability, we have divided this post in three price segments. As you will see, most of these models cost less than Rs 2 lakh. That said, all of these are aimed at the performance segments. Here’s our list of Upcoming new bikes in India 2017, 2018.

Hero Xtreme 200S
Estimated Price | ₹ 95,000 – 1.05 lakh |
Launch Date | April/May 2018 |
Engine | Carbureted, single-cylinder, 199.3cc |
Power | 20 BHP |
Torque | 17 Nm |
Transmission | 6-speed |
Hero will likely bring a bigger, badder Xtreme to the market before any other bike on this list of upcoming new Hero bikes in India. Why? This bike will be based on the Xtreme Sports, which is already on sale. However, while that bike has a 149.2cc engine, this bike will likely have a 199.3cc engine. It will likely output 20BHP power and 17Nm torque. A six-speed transmission on the bike is also likely. Expect the Xtreme 200S to have ABS as optional equipment.
Hero Impulse 200cc
Price | ₹ 1.10 Lakh – 1.30 Lakh |
Launch Date | September 2018 |
Engine | Fuel-injected, single-cylinder, 200cc |
Power | 18.6 PS |
Torque | 17.2 Nm |
Transmission | 6-speed |
Hero tried to do something radical with the introduction of Impulse some years ago. However, the bike was not as well-received as Hero had hoped. Today, the market is more than ready for such bikes, which is why this is perhaps the most-awaited of all the upcoming new Hero bikes. We think Hero will likely bring this to the market by Seeptember 2018. Expect the engine to be the same as the Xtreme 200S, which is a 200cc, fuel-injected, single cylinder unit making 18.6 PS and 17.2 Nm.
Hero HX250R
Estimated Price | ₹ 1.50 Lakh to 1.70 Lakh |
Launch Date | September 2018 |
Engine | Fuel-injected, single-cylinder, 249cc |
Power | 23BHP |
Torque | 20Nm |
Transmission | 6-speed |
The HX250R seems like a replacement for the Karizma. However, what can be said for sure is that it will be an all-new model from Hero. With an engine displacing 249cc, this bike’s power and torque outputs will likely be close to 23BHP and 20Nm, respectively. From the image (of the concept) above, we can deduce that this bike will likely have disc brakes at both ends. Also, it will have a telescopic fork up front but a monoshock at the back. The windshield of the bike is upright, suggesting that it will be a sport-tourer and not a sportbike. So these are the three upcoming new bikes in India 2017, 2018 from Hero MotoCorp. Which one are you waiting for?

TVS Apache RTR 200 4V FI
Estimated Price | ₹ 1.20 lakh – 1.26 lakh |
Launch Date | March 2018 |
Engine | Fuel-injected, single-cylinder, 197.7cc |
Power | 21BHP |
Torque | 18.1Nm |
Transmission | 6-speed |
Time to talk about the most powerful (for now) Apache. The RTR 200 4V was launched amid much fanfare some months ago. TVS also said that a fuel-injected version of the bike will be made available. However, it is yet to go on sale in India. Whatever be the issues, it seems the bike will soon be on sale. As per TVS, Bosch has developed this bike’s FI system.
The Apache RTR 200 4V FI is a slightly faster bike than the regular Apache RTR 200 4V. Its 0-60 kph time, as per TVS, is 3.9 seconds. The carbureted bike’s time stands at 3.95 seconds. At 129 kph, its top speed is 2 kph faster than the carbureted bike’s. Plus, it is likely to come equipped with ABS and Pirelli tyres as standard equipment.
TVS Apache RR 310S
Estimated Price | ₹ 1.70 lakh – 1.90 lakh |
Launch Date | April 2018 |
Engine | Fuel-injected, single-cylinder, 313cc |
Power | 38BHP |
Torque | 32Nm |
Transmission | 6-speed |
Let’s talk about the big-hitter in the Apache range of motorcycles. The Apache RR 310S, also known as Akula 310, will be the flagship motorcycle of the Apache range. It was showcased at the Auto Expo 2016 and from the looks of it, it looks ready to race even when it is just standing still.
This bike gets the same engine as the BMW G310R. However, in this application, the 313cc engine will likely make more power and torque than it does on the G 310 R. Expect ABS to come as an optional piece of equipment. Though we don’t expect this bike come for cheap, our expected price tag for this bike seems quite mouth-watering when you consider what is on offer. Due to this reason, this is perhaps the most awaited of all the upcoming new TVS bikes on this list.

Bajaj Dominar 200
Price | ₹ 80,000 – 90,000 |
Launch Date | May 2018 |
Engine | Single-cylinder, fuel-injected, 199.5cc |
Power | 24BHP |
Torque | 19Nm |
Transmission | 6-speed |
Those looking for a ‘friendlier’ power cruiser than the Dominar 400 will not likely have to wait for longer. This is because Bajaj is expected to bring the Dominar 200 to the market. This bike will have a 199.5cc engine that makes 24BHP power and 19Nm torque. This will make this bike more user-friendly and offer more choice to folks looking for a 200cc bike that is neither as sporty as an RS200/200NS nor as laid-back as the Avenger Street/Cruise 220. The Dominar 200 will likely have halogen headlamps. Expect it to be a slimmed-down version of the Dominar 400 while retaining the same design as the bigger bike.
Bajaj Avenger 400
Price | ₹ 1.50 lakh – 1.80 lakh |
Launch Date | September 2018 |
Engine | Single-cylinder, fuel-injected, 373.2cc |
Power | 37BHP |
Torque | 32Nm |
Transmission | 6-speed |
A number of folks have been waiting for more powerful Avengers since a long time. After all, the Avenger is the choice for those who wish to own a nicely-behaved cruiser motorcycle which feels modern too. Until the Avenger came (then left and returned too) to market, buyers had limited options to go for. Bajaj will likely bring in a more powerful Avenger 400 to India. This bike will sport a detuned version of KTM 390 Duke’s 373.2cc fuel-injected single. It will likely make 37BHP power and 32Nm torque. Its styling is likely to be closer to Avenger Street 220 than Avenger Cruise 220.
So here were the upcoming new bikes in India 2017, 2018 from TVS Motor Co. and from Bajaj Auto Ltd? Which one of these are you waiting for?

BMW G 310 R

Power | 33 BHP |

Transmission | 6-speed |
The BMW G 310 R made its first-ever public appearance in 2015. Since then, it has been among the most awaited of all upcoming new bikes in India. The G 310 R boasts naked streetfighter design. The G 310 R is the first motorcycle under the joint venture between the famous German bike manufacturer and TVS Motor Co. It is expected to launch in India by April next year. Prices should start around Rs 2 lakh. Powering this bike is a 313cc, four-stroke, single-cylinder, water-cooled engine that outputs a maximum power of 33 BHP and a peak torque of 28 Nm. The engine comes mated to a 6-speed Manual Transmission. The bike boasts a top speed of 145 KMPH.
BMW G 310 GS

Launch Date | May 2018 |
Engine | Fuel-injected, single cylinder, 313cc |
Power | 34 BHP |
Torque | 28 Nm |
Transmission | 6-speed |
If you thought the G 310 R is the only thing born from BMW-TVS partnership, think again. the G 310 GS is a dual-purpose bike based on the G 310 R. It makes a whole lot of more sense for BMW to bring it to India than anything else. Why? Firstly, the market for dual-purpose bikes is growing here and two, a bike like this makes more sense in India than a sport bike.
KTM 390 Adventure
Price | ₹ 2.30 lakh – 2.50 lakh |
Launch Date | March 2018 |
Engine | Fuel-injected, single cylinder, 373.2 cc |
Power | 41 BHP |

Transmission | 6-speed |
The KTM 390 Adventure is likely to launch in India by the end of current financial year. It’s expected to make its India debut at the Auto Expo 2018. The 390 Adventure is easily the most awaited of all upcoming KTM bikes in India. The 390 Adventure is based on the 390 Duke but carries several updates to become a worthy adventure tourer. Prices could start around Rs 2.3 lakh. The 390 Adventure, once launched in India, will become the only adventure-tourer in its segment. Thanks to a front fairing with a large windscreen, the Adventure 390 should be perfect for high speed runs on winding roads.
