MG Motors is a prominent carmaker in the country as we take a look at the details of its upcoming cars in India in 2024. The Chinese-owned British carmaker entered the Indian market back in 2017 with its first manufacturing plant in Halol, Gujarat. The Hector was the first SUV from MG which was launched in June 2019. Thereafter, it kept updating its portfolio from time to time. Today, it offers products like the Hector, Hector Plus, Gloster, Astor, ZS EV and Comet. Going forward, it could potentially launch even more cars. In fact, it displayed its cars at the Auto Expo 2023 in New Delhi at the beginning of this year.

MG Gloster Facelift
The first vehicle I would like to discuss is the facelift version of the Gloster. At present, the Gloster represents the flagship offering from the British car marque. It offers some pretty insane features and amenities to pamper its occupants. Apart from that, it also boasts a powerful engine with 4×4 and ADAS capabilities. As a result, it takes care of off-roading and safety. With the facelift model, MG will further improve upon all these aspects. There won’t be any radical changes to either the exterior, the interior or the powertrains. Hence, it would be a regular facelift with minor design changes and the addition of some new features. The aim will be to provide an ultra-opulent experience to the buyers.

MG 4 EV
The MG 4 EV is one of the most popular products from British carmakers in many international markets. It is a premium electric hatchback crossover which is based on the SAIC’s modular scalable platform. It is almost similar in size and dimensions to ZS EV. In the international markets, it is offered with two battery pack options – a 51 kWh and a 64 kWh. Both iterations offer a decent 250 Nm of peak torque but the power outputs vary at 170 hp and 203 hp, respectively. Even with the smaller battery pack, the owners can expect a range of around 350 km while the larger battery can offer around 452 km of range on a single charge, as per the WLTP cycle. To juice up these batteries, the MG 4 EV will support 150 kW DC fast charging. It will have a minimalist interior which is typical of modern EVs.

MG eHS
Then there is the MG eHS SUV which was also on display at the Auto Expo 2023. It is a plug-in hybrid which is on sale in Europe. The dimensions of this SUV are slightly larger than the ZS EV. Hence, one could think of it as a hybrid version of the Hector. In fact, it draws power from a potent 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine with an electric motor for a combined output of 254 hp of peak power. The electric motor gets power from a 16.6 kWh battery pack which can allow an electric-only drive for about 52 km. On the inside, it gets a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment display and tons of features in addition to ADAS.

MG eRX5
Yet another plug-in hybrid SUV from MG is the eRX5. It has a striking front fascia with a colossal front grille which reminds us of Lexus cars. It has an imposing road presence, something the Indian customers would really love. Under its hood sits a powerful 1.5-litre plug-in hybrid engine which combines with an electric motor to generate a mammoth 245 hp and 570 Nm of peak power and torque. The transmission duties are carried by a 10-speed automatic gearbox. On the inside, it comes with a ginormous single-piece 27-inch screen with tons of modern amenities and connectivity features.

MG Marvel R
Finally, MG could also introduce the Marvel R in our market. However, it will cater to the audience looking for a premium luxury electric SUV. With a length of around 4.67 m and a wheelbase of around 2.8 m, the Marvel R contains flush-fitting door handles, a sealed-off grille, a 19.4-inch touchscreen infotainment display, a 12.3-inch digital instrument display and more. Under its floor sits a 70 kWh battery pack which powers two electric motors for an all-wheel-drive configuration. The total power and torque outputs stand at a decent 285 hp and 664 Nm. Its WLTP range is anywhere between 370 km and 400 km, depending on the variant one opts for.
