The upcoming Maruti Swift facelift was spotted testing on the road recently. I am quite excited to experience the frenzy of the news of the facelift model of one of the most prolific and successful vehicles in India. The recent Japanese Mobility Show unveiled the latest Swift, showcasing updates in exterior, interior, and mechanical aspects. It remains uncertain if these changes will be incorporated into the Indian model. The standout feature is undoubtedly the hybrid powertrain, boasting an impressive mileage of around 30-35 km/l. However, there’s no definitive report confirming whether the Indian version will adopt this same powertrain. Let us take a look at the details of the facelift model.

This post comes from piloton_wheels on Instagram. It captures what looks like the facelift model of the Swift. As is the case with all test mules, the body is under heavy camouflage. It is intriguing to witness the vehicle in the flesh on roads. This one features black alloy wheels which accentuate the sportiness. Additionally, the rear profile is quite reminiscent of the existing model. The model showcased at the Auto Show in Japan also informs that the overall silhouette will almost be identical to the current-gen version. However, there will be slight tweaks to the front and rear profiles.

The most significant change is the introduction of the new powertrain, marking a departure from the trusted K Series engine in the Swift and other Maruti cars. The upcoming Z Series engine offers multiple versions, with the showcased one at the Japan Mobility Show being a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder hybrid mill capable of delivering an impressive mileage of approximately 30-35 km/l. While the power figure remains similar to the existing model, there’s a noticeable increase in torque, promising even more exciting low-end performance. It would be interesting to see if Maruti brings this mill to our shores. In any case, the new Swift could move away from the existing K Series engine.
