New Maruti Swift
Arguably the most talked-about upcoming Maruti Suzuki car in India is the new Swift. We have already seen the vehicle in the flesh in many international markets including Japan, the UK, Ireland and more. It is about time we saw it on Indian roads too. On the outside, there are barely any differences in terms of styling and silhouette. Still, there will be minor aesthetic modifications to set it apart from the existing model. Similarly, the overall interior layout won’t be too far away from what the current model offers. But there could be the addition of new features. Finally, the new Swift will come with a new engine. It will be a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder Z-Series engine which will replace the K-Series unit. It could be a mild hybrid mill. Due to cost constraints, we don’t expect the strong hybrid to make it to our shores.
Specs | Maruti Swift (current-gen) |
Engine | 1.2-litre Petrol / CNG |
Power | 90 PS / 77 PS |
Torque | 113 Nm / 99 Nm |

New Maruti Dzire
Now, Maruti Dzire is the sedan guise of the Swift. It has been immensely popular in our market. The reason is that it is not only the highest-selling compact sedan in the country among private buyers but also the favoured choice for fleet operators. In fact, to cater to the commercial segment exclusively, Maruti Suzuki offers a dedicated ‘Tour’ range of some of its cars including Dzire. When the Swift is updated, it is natural that the Dzire will sport these alterations as well. Hence, we can expect all the changes on the Dzire which will be there on the Swift.
Specs | Maruti Dzire (current-gen) |
Engine | 1.2-litre Petrol / CNG |
Power | 90 PS / 78 PS |
Torque | 113 Nm / 99 Nm |
Transmission | 5MT / AMT |
Maruti Baleno Turbo
Interestingly, we could also get a new variant of the Maruti Baleno premium hatchback. Note that the Fronx is based on the Baleno. While it shares the platform, there are a few things that are solely available on the Fronx. This includes certain design elements, some high-tech features and a peppy turbo petrol powertrain. Since a thorough Baleno facelift is not due, we could get a new variant which will feature that peppy 1.0-litre turbo petrol mill. It makes 100 PS and 147 Nm of peak power and torque. Turbo petrol mills are preferred by driving enthusiasts. Hence, we expect a warm response when the Baleno launches with that engine.

Engine | 1.0-litre Turbo Petrol |
Power | 100 PS |
Torque | 147 Nm |

Maruti Grand Vitara-based 7-seat SUV
The next vehicle on the list of upcoming Maruti Suzuki cars in India in 2024 is the Grand Vitara-based 7-seat SUV. Grand Vitara is a mid-size SUV which rivals the mighty Hyundai Creta in our market. In fact, the customers have really taken a liking to the Grand Vitara. Leveraging that success and appeal, Maruti Suzuki is planning to come up with a 7-seat SUV. It will have enhanced practicality and cabin space. It will most likely borrow the powertrain options from the Grand Vitara along with cabin layout and features. This segment currently offers products like the Hyundai Alcazar, Kia Carens, MG Hector Plus, Mahindra XUV700 and Tata Safari.

Engine | 1.5L (P) & 1.5L (Hybrid) |

Maruti eVX
Finally, this list also contains the electric SUV, the eVX. Maruti Suzuki is eventually ready to offer its first electric car to the world. Sure, it is slightly late to the party. But that gives it a chance to learn from the mistakes other carmakers have made. There are not too many details about the eVX. Still, we have seen the futuristic design from the concept model earlier. It is also likely that the battery pack capacity will be around 60 kWh. Also, it could come with either a 2WD or a 4WD configuration. Furthermore, the power figures will range from 138 hp to 170 hp and the range will be around 550 km.
