Kia will launch four upcoming cars in India by 2021, mainly focusing on SUVs and MPVs, one of which is the Kia Carnival, an MPV to finally take on the Toyota Innova.
This year saw two major brands stepping foot in the Indian automobile market – MG Motors and Kia. Both have had a very good start with their first SUVs for the Indian market and both have quite an elaborate plan with their products for the market in the future. As for Kia, they would be having as many as four cars in India by the end of 2021, with one car launching every 6-9 months. So here’s a list of the upcoming cars from Kia scheduled for the next two years.
Kia Seltos
The Kia Seltos is scheduled to be launched later in August but it has already received over 6,000 bookings on the very first day when bookings were officially commenced. The Kia Seltos comes with a wide range of engine and gearbox configurations, including a 1.4 Liter, turbocharged petrol engine with 140bhp, with the engine paired to a 7-speed DCT.
The Kia Seltos looks absolutely stunning, perhaps the most handsome looking car in the entire segment. The interiors are also very well loaded with quite a few segment first features that includes a heads up display as well. When launched, we expect the Seltos to be priced very competitively between Rs. 11-16 lakhs.
Kia Carnival
Following a mid-sized SUV, the next car from Kia that has already been confirmed for India is the Carnival MPV. The Kia Carnival is a full size MPV with seven or eight seater configurations that will go against the Toyota Innova. The Toyota Innova goes pretty uncontested in this segment, but that likely could change.
The Carnival looks very premium and modern. Its interiors are also very well laid out and like most Kia’s, the Carnival would be very well equipped too. It is expected to be powered by a 2.2-litre CRDi diesel engine that makes 202bhp and 441Nm. It will be priced around Rs. 25 lakhs and is expected to come in the first half of 2020 itself.
Kia Compact SUV
At the unveiling event of the Seltos in India, Kia had mentioned that they would be primarily focusing on SUVs and MPVs for the Indian market. Given how popular SUVs are in India, particularly the compact-SUV space, Kia will surely have another SUV sitting below the Seltos in their SUV line-up.
Also, considering that Kia’s sister brand – Hyundai – already has a product in the space, Kia wouldn’t be wasting much time in bringing a compact SUV to India. Its still very early to talk about specifications or details about this compact SUV, but it sure is in the cards.

Kia Mid-Sized MPV
We have already reported about Kia developing a mid-size MPV that will rival the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and the Mahindra Marazzo. It will sit below the Kia carnival in the range and is expected to be launched only in 2021.
This Kia mid-sized MPV will be based on the Seltos platform. However, it will not be a seven-seater version of the Seltos but a completely different, standalone product. It could use the same engines from the Kia Seltos and is expected to be priced in between Rs. 8-13 lakhs.

So this was a list of the upcoming cars from Kia in the next two years. They sure have made a late entry in the Indian market, but with an aggressive product strategy and playing their cards of feature loaded cars and value for money, Kia seems to be making an extremely strong case for themselves.
