All-New Maruti Swift
The first product on this list has to be Maruti Swift. It has been among the most iconic names in the Indian automobile industry for years now. The most significant change in the new model involves the introduction of a new powertrain, marking a departure from the dependable K Series engine found in the Swift and other Maruti cars. The upcoming Z Series engine is available in multiple versions, with the one featured at the Japan Mobility Show being a 1.2-litre 3-cylinder hybrid engine capable of achieving an impressive mileage of approximately 30-35 km/l. While the power figure remains similar to the existing model, there’s a noticeable increase in torque, promising even more exciting low-end performance. It remains to be seen whether Maruti will bring this engine to our shores. Nevertheless, the new Swift could signify a shift away from the current K Series engine.

All-New Maruti Dzire
Over the years, we have seen the Swift and Dzire duo existing with similar powertrains, aesthetics and features. We have no reason to believe otherwise this time around as well. In fact, in India, we get the updated Dzire prior to the Swift. It would be interesting to see if that remains the case this time around too. It will draw inspiration from the facelift Swift in terms of exterior and interior. Moreover, it will share the powertrain options with the Swift too. The only aspect that could be different is the Tour variant which Maruti offers specifically for the fleet operators.

However, it has not seen any major update ever since. 2024 might be the year we finally get to see some tweaks to the external design and interior features. Still, the powertrain options are likely to remain the same. Therefore, it would strictly be an aesthetic facelift.

Toyota Taisor
Toyota is the next carmaker on this list. In 2024, we would get to witness the Taisor crossover. It will be the Toyota counterpart to the Maruti Suzuki Fronx. We know that Toyota and Suzuki operate under their joint venture. As a result, they sell each other’s cars with their brand logo. In essence, this phenomenon is called badge engineering. Therefore, we don’t expect any major changes to either the exterior styling, interior layout, features or powertrains. The Taisor would simply be the Maruti Suzuki Fronx with a Toyota logo. It will get the 1.2-litre petrol and 1.0-litre turbo petrol engines with manual and automatic transmission.

Tata Motors offers its special Dark Edition models for most of its cars in the portfolio. It caters to potential buyers who want a sporty exterior and interior and don’t want sober colours inside the cabin. Hence, it could have blacked out bits on the outside and black dashboard and upholstery on the inside with red stitching. Mechanically, it won’t be any different from the regulations model on sale.

It will feature a significant update to its exterior appearance, particularly at the front with the Parametric Grille. On the inside, the changes might be limited to the addition of a few modern features. Apart from that, it will also get the new 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine which debut with the new Verna. Upcoming Renault Cars in India in 2024
Renault KZ-E (Kwid Electric)
Arguably, one of the most upcoming cars in India in 2024 from Renault is the electric version of the Kwid. The EV is based on the CMF-A platform, with a potential release in 2024 or 2025. Although efforts are underway to expedite the launch, the exact timeline remains uncertain. Renault’s initial EV for India could have upto 60% localization level. The company is particularly focused on localizing batteries and cells to reduce costs, aiming for increased adoption of Renault’s EVs in the future.
Presently, the French automaker already markets the electric Kwid in Europe and China. It features a 26.8 kWh battery pack. This battery powers an electric motor that delivers 44 hp and 125 Nm. With a WLTP range of approximately 295 km on a single charge, the electric Kwid seems to be a practical city runabout. It undergoes significant design alterations, including the removal of the fuel tank, a flat floor, suspension adjustments, and more. Renault aims to offer it below the crucial Rs 10 lakh mark, a pricing strategy that has proven successful for EVs, evident in the sales performance of the Tata Tiago EV and Tigor EV.
New Renault Duster
The recent global unveiling of the new Duster marks a significant development. The latest rendition of the Renault Duster is constructed on the CMF-B modular platform, a collaborative design emerging from the Renault-Nissan alliance. Available in both Renault and Nissan variants, this next-generation model preserves its iconic boxy silhouette and distinctive SUV charm, taking inspiration from the Bigster concept. Boasting a length of 4,343 mm, the new Duster surpasses its well-known predecessor in size, accompanied by a substantial wheelbase measuring 2,657 mm, ensuring a commanding presence on the road. International markets will have a range of engines to choose from, though the engine lineup for the Indian-spec model remains undisclosed for now. The anticipated debut in India is projected towards the end of 2024, with the official launch set to follow in 2025.
Renault Triber Turbo
The Renault Triber stands out as one of the most budget-friendly 7-seat vehicles available in the country, boasting a cleverly designed MPV silhouette capable of accommodating seven passengers. It has enjoyed considerable success in the market over an extended period. However, a notable absence has been a spirited turbo engine. This could soon change, as there are indications that a turbo variant of the Triber might be on the horizon in the upcoming months. This variant is expected to feature the same engine found in the Kiger – a 1.0-liter turbo petrol engine capable of generating a robust 100 PS and 160 Nm of peak power and torque. Such an addition would enhance the performance of this compact MPV, especially when carrying a full complement of seven passengers on the road.
Renault Kiger Facelift
Introduced to the Indian market in March 2021, the Renault Kiger swiftly positioned itself as a compelling choice among compact SUVs. With the burgeoning popularity of smaller SUVs in India, various automakers have entered this segment, making the Kiger a prominent player for Renault. Notably, it stands as the highest-selling model for the French auto giant in our market. Despite its success, the Kiger has yet to undergo a facelift since its initial launch. To ensure the continued appeal of this compact SUV, Renault is set to introduce a facelift with not only aesthetic enhancements but also the incorporation of new features aimed at attracting a fresh customer base.
