According to a report shared exclusively by our friends at Motoroids, TVS is working on two new cruisers and one entry level commuter.
The TVS Motor Company is hard bent to rule several segments in the two-wheeler market. The company recently introduced the premium Apache 300 RR which is the product of the joint venture between TVS and BMW. Although TVS has had one of the strongest portfolios, luck hasn’t favoured the company much. Time and again the automaker has introduced brilliant products with absolutely zero ownership hassles. TVS was also amongst the first manufacturers to introduce ABS aiding rider safety. According to a report published on Motoroids, TVS is working to introduce two new cruisers and boy are we excited. Read along to know more about the upcoming motorcycles.
Upcoming bikes by TVS – Two New Cruisers
TVS showcased the Zeplin concept at the 2018 Auto Expo. The concept featured cruiser type styling and was powered by a 220cc engine. To provide an extra boost, the concept had a secondary power source in terms of an electric motor making it a hybrid vehicle. Another distinguishing feature of the concept was the Integrated Starter Generator (ISG). This feature allows the bike to start faster and easier as it gives the engine an augmented boost. The 1200W regenerative assist motor was coupled with a 48V lithium-ion battery that would assist the engine with an additional power boost. The styling on the Zeppelin concept was the most striking part. The bold hexagonal LED headlight coupled with the chunky 41mm front USD shocks screamed enhanced road presence. The sharp styling on the tank followed by the well-chiselled seat featuring a little hump as back support ending with the big striking LED tail light are some distinctive features we loved.
The upcoming cruisers will take cues from the Zeppelin concept and will feature similar design language. Both the concepts will be powered by the 220 cc engine on the concept but the Regenerative Assist Motor will not make it to production. On the other hand, the TVS patented Integrated Starter Generator (ISG) will make it to production and will feature on the upcoming cruises. We expect the upcoming cruisers to carry certain features from the concept like the chunky 41mm USD shocks at the front and a monoshock at the rear along with dual-channel ABS.
While one the cruisers will feature design cues from the Zeppelin concept the other one would feature a design similar to the Triumph Bonneville with street cruiser type design. Both the cruisers will compete with the likes of Bajaj Avenger twins, Suzuki Intruder 150, UM Renegade twins and Royal Enfield Bullet 350.
Upcoming bikes by TVS – New Commuter
In another news, TVS is working on a new entry-level commuter bike. The new pocket-friendly offering from TVS will be powered by the TVS Sport’s 99.7cc engine which is good for 7.4 PS of power at 7,500 rpm. The engine will come paired with a 4-speed gearbox. As per the website sources, the upcoming entry-level commuter’s fuel efficiency stands at 95 kmpl. In order to keep the cost under control, the incoming commuter will feature a single piece seat, telescopic front forks, twin rear shock absorbers and drum brakes at each end. The prices of the upcoming commuter are expected to range between INR 45,000 to INR 50,000 competing with the likes of Bajaj Platina, Hero HF Deluxe, Hero Splendor+ and Honda CD110 Dream. A five-year warranty, like the TVS Sport, will be offered on the upcoming commuter right out of the box.
