In the latest report by The American Journal of Medicine, unvaccinated people (for Covid) are at a high risk of being involved in severe accidents. These are some shocking statistics that must be taken into consideration. There are people all across the world who skipped the Covid vaccine due to various reasons including Distrust of the government, a belief in freedom, misconceptions of daily risks, “faith in natural protection,” “antipathy toward regulation,” poverty, misinformation, a lack of resources, and personal beliefs, as proposed by the authors of the report.

Unvaccinated Covid People a High Risk of Accidents
The report was based on the examination of 11 million adults by Canadian researchers. Out of these 16% hadn’t received the Covid vaccine. They found out that 72% of these are more likely to be involved in severe traffic accidents in which at least one person was transported to the hospital compared to those who were vaccinated. The authors of the report also said, “The excess risk of car crash posed by unvaccinated drivers “exceeds the safety gains from modern automobile engineering advances and also imposes risks on other road users.”

This experiment was premised upon the fact that people who resist public health recommendations might also “neglect basic road safety guidelines”. In addition to that, the findings are significant enough that primary care doctors should consider counselling unvaccinated patients on traffic safety. Furthermore, insurance companies might have to rework their policies depending on whether or not the people are vaccinated.

First Responders May Have to Take Precautions
Finally, the first responders may also consider taking precautions to protect themselves from Covid when responding to traffic crashes as it’s more likely that a driver is unvaccinated than vaccinated. Lastly, “The findings suggest that unvaccinated adults need to be careful indoors with other people and outside with surrounding traffic,” the authors concluded. What are your thoughts on the matter?
