Kia Motors expected to gain entry in the much dominating SUV market by launching three SUVs by 2020
South Korean manufacturer, Kia Motors is all set to launch its first new product, SP2i. The unveiling for the same is expected by 20th June and the SUV will compete against Tata Harrier, Hyundai Creta, Renault Captur and Nissan Kicks.
Kia motors may be late to the Indian market but the manufacturer has a great plan to launch one new car every six months until 2022. That said, for the year 2020, two cars have been lined up after their debut SP SUV launched in the Indian market.
The second product of Kia will be a sub-4-metre compact SUV with which share some of the underpinnings from recently launched, Hyundai Venue. However, the design statement is expected to be a bit tad off and will feature a rather chunkier and sporty design.

It is expected to make debut at the 2020 Auto Expo in India and offer a variety of dual colour exterior paint schemes along with new interior design. The compact SUV will compete against the likes of the popular Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Ford Ecosport and Mahindra XUV300.
The engine specifications are not yet out but we expect a BS-VI compliance engine and will sport a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine and a 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine. A choice of an automatic or manual gearbox can be expected from Kia motors.
The other product after the compact-SUV can be brought in by the CKD route. Although it is not yet confirmed if the car will be locally manufactured in the country, we expect that it will be the Sorento (Santa-Fe sized) or Sportage (Tucson sized). Hence, the Kia will be focusing on the SUV as of now.
Another report is that Kia Motors may launch an Innova based rival of their own. The car will be called Kia Carnival and it will be brought through a CKD route too. However, due to the much popularity of Innova, Carnival may see a heavy localisation to offer a good neck to neck competition to the Japanese brand.
