TVS Proto Electric Scooter Launch Price
The upcoming TVS Proto Electric Scooter will be the first eco-friendly offering from the automaker. We expect the electric scooter to be showcased at the upcoming 2018 Auto Expo. The launch date will be decided post the unveil. The electric scooter from TVS looks like a full-size premium scooter and we expect it to be priced below INR 50,000.
TVS plans to introduce several vehicles in the Indian market over the span of next two years. Some of these are going to be premium offerings while the others are going to be refreshed versions of the existing lineup. Apart from Proto, TVS will be launching the Ntorq 125 in Chennai on 5th February, to be showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo later this month.

Last year we reported on the spy shots of the upcoming TVS Proto Electric Scooter. The shots confirmed exactly what to expect at the TVS stall at 2018 Auto Expo. The company officials went on record to confirm that TVS will start selling electric vehicles around mid-2018. Reports on the web suggest that the ‘green’ scooter from TVS will be named Proto.
The TVS Proto will mark the company’s second attempt at introducing electric scooters with the first one being TVS Teenz. Going by the spy shots posted online, the upcoming TVS Proto Electric Scooter appears to be a full-size premium-scooter. The same segment has been empty for now and TVS wants to capitalise on the first mover’s advantage. With several offerings from various automakers already present in the market, most are either Chinese knockoffs, imported from China or simply bicycles converted into electric cycles. The premium electric scooter segment is empty right now and TVS wants to place the first product there asap.
TVS Proto Electric Scooter Features
The upcoming TVS Proto Electric Scooter being a premium offering is expected to carry a fully digital instrument cluster with smartphone connectivity, telescopic forks, tubeless tyres and quite possibly, an optional front disc brake. The Proto might borrow certain parts from the existing lineup at TVS, but the fresh design will ensure that it looks distinctive.
The Indian government has taken the initiative to promote the alternative fuels like electricity to make the intra-city movement more eco-friendly. The government has been planning to set up an infrastructure for the shift to electric vehicles. The upcoming TVS Proto Electric Scooter plans to capitalise exactly on that. While almost all major four-wheeler manufacturers have shared the plans to introduce electric cars in the near future, two-wheeler manufacturers have been shy in doing so.
