The Maruti Dzire, based on the Swift, has already bagged a full 5-star safety rating at the Global NCAP recently
In a rather surprising video, a truck full of bricks is seen falling onto a Maruti Swift. The video is going viral due to the way the hatchback was able to sustain the load. Swift is one of the highest-selling cars in India ever. It has been around since 2005. Currently, in its 4th-generation avatar, the sporty car’s demand is still at an all-time high. Maruti Suzuki has updated it with all the latest bells and whistles along with a new and more frugal engine. Hence, people still buy it like hotcakes. For now, let us take a look at the details of this recent occurrence.
Truck Full of Bricks Falls on Maruti Swift
The details of this case stem from speed_seduction_ on Instagram. The visuals capture the aftermath of this incident. A new Swift is seen parked on the side of the road. However, a truck, loaded with bricks, is somehow spotted leaning on the car. Perhaps, it might have been too heavy and due to low speed, it didn’t completely crush the car. Instead, in fact, it merely leaned on it. Unfortunately, the bricks loaded at the back of the truck ended up falling on the car. The video even showcases a motorcycle which was almost buried under the bricks.
In terms of damage, the side pillars have sustained the impact rather well. Even the roof is bent a little but it has not completely fallen through. The front and rear windshields have been broken. Apart from that, the car has taken the weight of the leaning truck and the impact of the bricks quite impressively. While this doesn’t necessarily mean a full 5-star safety rating, it is still an indication of the solid build quality of the new Swift. It looks like the Indo-Japanese car marque has done some thorough work to make their latest cars much stronger than their predecessors.
My View
Even though this video is going viral, I must advise our readers to not jump to any conclusions regarding the safety prowess of the Maruti Swift. Only professional testing agencies like Global NCAP or Bharat NCAP have the authority and expertise to test a car to award safety ratings. Still, it is quite heartening to see such a performance of the Swift in a real-life mishap. I shall update this post if more details emerge.
