Toyota is prepping up to launch its CBU Vellfire in India. The premium MPV will go against the likes of Mercedes Benz V-Class Elite.
We recently spied the Toyota Vellfire with a temporary white number plate, indicating that the dealerships have started receiving the premium MPV. Toyota’s latest luxury car is also set to be launched in the first quarter of 2020.
Toyota Vellfire will be brought in via Completely Built-Up Unit (CBU) route under the Indian rule of relaxed homologation scheme. A total of 2500 units can be imported under this order. That’s more than enough for a car that is likely to cost around Rs 85-90 Lakhs.
The Vellfire will be a six-seater luxury MPV which gets a 2.5-litre petrol hybrid engine under the good. It is a 150 bhp motor which gets mated with a 143 bhp electric motor thus returning a combined output of 197 bhp. It will carry a CVT gearbox which will deliver power to all four wheels.

Several reports have said that only a single, fully loaded trim will be launched in the Indian market. So that means, the Vellfire will come with al the bells and whistles which may be suited well for our shores.
It will carry features like powered sliding doors and tailgate, three-zone climate control, ambient lighting, the reclinable second row of seats, powered and ventilated first and second-row seats. Also, it will carry two sunroofs, individual tray tables and an option of black or beige interiors. A mix of both i.e dual-tone interiors is also expected.

The cabin inside is expected to receive a faux wood treatment on the dashboard, gear lever and on the multi-function steering wheel. Safety features like Blind Spot Detection System, Rear Cross Traffic Alert are expected in the Vellfire. Other safety features like Anti Lock Braking System, Electronic Brake Force Distribution, 360-degree camera, front and rear parking sensors and multiple airbags are also expected with the luxury MPV.
Talking about the dimensions, the Vellfire measures 4,935 mm in length, 1,850 mm in width and about 1,935/1,950 mm in height. The ground clearance stays in between 160 mm to 170 mm and globally the Vellfire comes in two body styles – Standard and Aero Body.
