After the launch of the Toyota Rumion, a comparison vs the Maruti Ertiga is natural. Note that the Rumion is the Ertiga-based MPV. It is yet another badge-engineered product as a part of the Suzuki-Toyota joint venture. We already have such configurations in the form of Baleno-Glanza, Brezza-Urban Cruiser, Grand Vitara-Hyryder, Innova Hycross-Invicto and now, Rumion-Ertiga. Ertiga is the segment leader since its inception. Now, Toyota is offering its own version. Here is a comparison of what is similar and what is different.

Toyota Rumion vs Maruti Ertiga Design Comparison
Both these MPVs are almost identical when it comes to exterior styling. However, the major difference lies in the front grille design and alloy wheels. Apart from that, they have the sleek project halogen headlamps, chrome frame around the grille, a sturdy skid plate area, sporty bumper and silver accents around the fog lamp cluster. On the sides, there are stylish 15-inch alloy wheels, chrome door handles and attractive side body cladding to offer a hint of premium exterior. At the rear, there are split LED taillamps with vertical and horizontal orientations with a chrome bar connecting them. All in all, you would hardly be able to tell the difference between the two apart from the alloy wheels and company badging.

Verdict
It won’t be wrong to say that choosing between these two is not all that difficult. In essence, both these vehicles are the same whether in terms of the exterior styling, interior comfort or powertrain options, In fact, there is just the Maruti Suzuki’s engine on offer along with its design language. Hence, the Rumion is a simple badge-engineered version. Therefore, there is not much to choose between the two in terms of design, features or powertrains. However, we would like to recommend our readers to wait for the pricing. Thereafter, it is advisable to go with that car company where you already have good relations. There is also the factor of which dealership is near your house. Based on that, you could make the purchase decision.
