Toyota’s version of the Maruti Vitara Brezza is going to get minor cosmetic tweaks with the mechanicals as well as the feature list remaining the same.
Soon we might see Maruti Suzuki’s Vitara Brezza plying on the Indian roads bearing the Toyota moniker and sporting some minor cosmetic tweaks. As you must be aware, the two Japanese automakers, Suzuki and Toyota have signed a basic agreement under which they both are going to supply vehicle to each other in the Indian market. The said vehicle will then be redesigned and re-badged and hence sold through their own respective dealerships.

According to recent reports, Toyota’s version of the Maruti Suzuki Baleno is going to make its debut sometime during the second half of the next-fiscal year. Which means that you can expect the Toyota branded Baleno to launch in India sometime during the festive season this year. If this turns out to be true, we are likely to see the Toyota branded Maruti Vitara Brezza to arrive in our market sometime next year. Toyota could chose to debut the same during next year’s auto expo which will be held during the month of February.
Apart from minor cosmetic changes and the obvious swapping of badges, Toyota’s version of the Maruti Vitara Brezza is going to be almost identical to the original vehicle. Yes, the front fascia and the rear fascia along with the alloy wheel and maybe even the interiors might see some radical changes but underneath the skin, both these iterations will be identical to each other.

Even the engine specifications of the Vitara Brezza is expected to remain the same. Currently, this sub-compact SUV offers a 1.3-litre, 4-cylinder diesel engine in BS-IV spec which will be swapped with a BS-VI complaint 1.5-litre unit next year. Maruti is expected to introduce a new petrol derivative in the Brezza later this year. Both these engine will be carried forward to the Toyota’s iteration as well. Transmission options are expected to remain the same.
The Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza currently retails in India in-between the price range of INR 7.5 lakh to 9.5 lakh (ex-showroom). Expect the Toyota branded Brezza to fall in a similar price territory as well.
