Dune bashing is often a method off-roading enthusiasts use to compare the performances of famous SUVs
In this post, we are comparing the off-roading performance on sand dunes of Toyota Legender, Mahindra Thar Roxx, Scorpio and regular Thar. We often keep coming across multiple occasions where automobile vloggers post such content online. They conduct competitions between SUVs on sandy areas to see which one boasts impressive capabilities. Note that this is not something I would recommend to our readers. For now, let us delve into the specifics of this case here.
Toyota Legender v Mahindra Thar Roxx v Scorpio Off-Roading on Sand Dunes
The video comes from Tushar Sharma on YouTube. The host is at an isolated location with thick sand dunes. There are all the major off-roading machines at the venue including the Toyota Fortuner Legender, Mahindra Thar Roxx, Thar 3-door and Scorpio. One by one, they attempt various challenges to test the prowess of each of these. Firstly, they all climb up a slope which every car was able to do except for the Scorpio because it is a 4×2 model. Thereafter, everyone was driving wherever they wished across the wide stretches of the sand.
Since this is a large area, they were all performing their individual stunts. Towards the end of the video, we see the Thar Roxx getting stuck on the sand. As the driver kept accelerating, the SUV kept getting deeper and deeper into the sand. Finally, another Thar had to be called to pull it out of that scenario using a towing cable. A similar case took place again when the Legender and Thar Roxx got too close to each other. Overall, all the cars performed well.
My View
While such videos make for great content for netizens, it is quite dangerous in real life. There could easily be mishaps or the car components could get damaged. Note that even though these are off-roading SUVs, they are not meant for such conditions intentionally. Sure, they are capable machines but to put them into tricky conditions like this is unwise. I hope our readers learn some lessons from this event and never attempt anything like this themselves.
