The Toyota Land Cruiser Prado has been among the most prestigious SUVs to have ever gone on sale in the country. It continues to enjoy a great fan base
Indians love SUVs, especially when they come from famous carmakers like Toyota. This is the very reason the Fortuner has been a huge hit among the SUV buyers of the country. However, those looking for a more premium model opt for SAVs from BMW or, often, options from Range Rover. This wasn’t exactly the case in the last decade, when the J150-series Toyota Land Cruiser Prado was on sale in the country. The Prado nameplate has been synonymous with street cred, reliability, off-roading prowess, and the true-blue SUV appeal. No wonder, then, that a lot of these end up in the used car market, where they’re sold at a fraction of their original prices.

Used Toyota Land Cruiser Prado V6 with CNG Kit
The Toyota Land Cruiser Prado you see above is from the J120-series and seems to be a pre-owned model. But the interesting bit here is that this seems to be the only car of its kind in India to run on CNG! Now, this Prado features a V6 mill that has a pretty good appetite. So, in order to bring down the running costs of such premium cars, owners often resort to installing a CNG kit. Something similar seems to be the case here. The guy who posted this video shows the car’s engine bay, the add-ons that come from the CNG kit and even the fuel tank. Of course, he repeatedly mentions how this SUV has a 6-cylinder engine.
Next, he goes on to describe the CNG kit he has installed. The unit comes from Lovato, a popular retailer of these kits. The uploader of the video even opens the boot to show the fuel tank taking up much of the boot space. The third generation Toyota Land Cruiser Prado (J120) debuted in 2002. It featured a more robust suspension compared to its predecessor. Its development began in 1997 while the design work started in 1998, with the winning proposal originating from Lance Scott of the Toyota ED2 design studio in France in late 1999.
