Toyota Land Cruiser Mini to Share Powertrains with Corolla Cross and RAV4
Toyota even teased a compact off-road-oriented vehicle when they came up with the Land Cruiser 250 earlier this year. According to media reports, this Toyota Land Cruiser Mini might hit the market by late 2024. There’s speculation that Toyota could name it the “Land Hopper,” a name they’ve trademarked. Additionally, it might go by monikers such as “FJ Cruiser” or “FC Cruiser.” This upcoming mini Land Cruiser is poised to inherit its off-road prowess from the regular Land Cruiser. It will ride on a compact platform. The new SUV is expected to be a direct competitor to the Ford Bronco Sport.
Toyota previously teased an all-new Compact Cruiser EV concept when unveiling the 2024 Land Cruiser 250. This concept is likely to influence the production model, which will incorporate design elements from the new Land Cruiser. The mini version is anticipated to feature a boxy design, robust bumpers, substantial body cladding, and a rear-mounted spare wheel. The upcoming model will come with a range of powertrains, including internal combustion and hybrid options, with the possibility of an electric powertrain in the future. It’s could share powertrains with models like the Corolla Cross, RAV4, and Prius.

Rugged Design Inspite Small Dimensions
One of the powerplants on offer could be a 2.0-liter 4-cylinder hybrid petrol mill generating 194bhp. The other could be a plug-in hybrid variant pushing out 220bhp. All models are likely to feature standard all-wheel drive. As per earlier reports, the upcoming compact Land Cruiser will have dimensions around 4351mm in length, 1854mm in width, and 1880mm in height. This makes it slightly shorter than the 2023 Toyota Corolla Cross. By about 127mm but wider by 51mm and taller by 254mm to be specific. Despite its smaller size, this new model will maintain robust off-road capabilities. This will ensure the legendary lineage of the flagship SUV even in the compact model.
