The Maruti Grand Vitara and the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder were launched in India last year. Both the models have been in high demand ever since their introduction, which is in line with the rise in demand for mid-size SUVs in recent years. As per information from the dealerships, the waiting period on both the SUVs has seen a steady increase and there’s now a pretty long waiting period. In fact, the waiting period for some of the variants extends to up to 15 months.

Mild-Hybrid Version of Toyota Hyryder in Great Demand
For starters, in case you wish to bring home Hyundai Creta-rivalling Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, be ready to wait for as much as up to 9 months. The minimum waiting period for this SUV is around 2.5 months depending on the region. Metro cities have the longest waiting period while Tier 2 towns tend to have shorter ones.
Meanwhile, the mild-hybrid variants of the Toyota Hyryder are in high demand. There’s a waiting period of up to 15 months in some places. The strong hybrid version has a waiting time of 6-7 months. Hyryder is available in four trim options – E, S, G, and V. The waiting period for the G manual version is up to 15 months, compared to just 2 months for the automated version. There is a 3- 4 month waiting time for the SUV’s AWD version.
Same Specs as Maruti Grand Vitara
The Toyota Hyryder and the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara have same specifications. Both of these SUVs are available with two engine options – a mild hybrid and a strong hybrid. The mild hybrid variant is propelled by a 1.5-litre naturally aspirated engine that produces a maximum torque of 136 Nm and 103 PS of peak power. Both, a 5-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters are offered with this engine choice. The second engine is the 1.5-litre, strong hybrid petrol engine that gets an electric motor that functions alongside a gasoline engine. This engine produces a maximum torque of 122 Nm and 93 PS of maximum power. An eCVT gearbox is available for this engine.
