The mid-size SUV segment is about to heat up with the arrival of a new product from Toyota that would also be available with the Maruti Suzuki badge.
The upcoming Toyota Hyryder SUV is making all the headlines at the moment and the unveiling is likely to take place on July 1, 2022. Taking the Toyota-Suzuki JV forward, it is time for Toyota to supply a product which will wear the Maruti badge (and a different name, YGF) in our market contrary to the previous products like the Baleno-Glanza and Brezz-Urban Cruiser. The powertrain will also be developed by Toyota itself which makes it a completely new product in India. The aim is to challenge the dominance of the Korean siblings, Creta and Seltos.

Upcoming Toyota Hyryder SUV
There are a few spy shots doing rounds on the internet. If the comparable international models are anything to go by, the Hyryder could feature a sleek headlamp cluster with LED DRLs, a broad front grille, a sporty bumper with fog lamp housing, an upright bonnet for that SUV-ish stance, stylish alloy wheels, side body cladding, black side pillars, split LED taillamps, and a rugged rear bumper.

Expected Powertrains
As per the information in the video, the powertrain options could be quite futuristic in the Hyryder. It could be the only mild and strong hybrid mid-size SUV in the country. There won’t be any diesel engine on offer. The strong hybrid engine that is reported to produce 120 hp could be the ideal alternative for it. The mild-hybrid engine might make 100 hp. The video also says that there could be the option of choosing between a manual or a CVT automatic transmission.

The interior would be revealed closer to the launch, but we could expect some standard modern equipment like a large touchscreen infotainment system, digital instrument cluster, connected car tech features, smartphone connectivity with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic AC, steering-mounted controls, premium upholstery, powered front seats and much more. The styling and the powertrains along what the prices could be the differentiating factors of the upcoming Toyota Hyryder SUV in its cause to dethrone the Creta and the Seltos.
