Toyota Glanza – the rebadged Maruti Baleno is expected to launch early June 2019!
Toyota’s upcoming premium hatchback Glanza is yet again spotted but this time it is all in flesh. Here is a snippet of Toyota Glanza prepping up for a TVC in Goa.
Toyota Glanza is the first product of the manufacturer under a partnership with Maruti India. It will be followed by other cars too like Ciaz, Ertiga and Brezza. The Glanza is produced at Maruti’s Suzuki Gujrat plant alongside Baleno.
Toyota Glanza – the rebadged Maruti Baleno looks identical to its cousin. The car which can be seen is the top of the line ‘V’ trim. It features projector headlamp design with LED DRL’s and LED Tail-lamps. The car sits on 16-inch alloy wheels. The only difference on the exteriors one will notice is the Toyota badging on the front grille and on the rear boot-lid. The front grille is a revised two-slat chrome grille and looks shinier than before.

The interiors of the Glanza is identical too with the same dashboard design and multi-information display and an all-black theme. It gets the same touchscreen infotainment system like that of Maruti Baleno and supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The steering wheel is identical except for Toyota’s badging on it.
Toyota Glanza will get the same 1.2-litre VVT engine churning out 82bhp with 114Nm of torque. It will be mated to a 5-speed manual as well as CVT transmission. It’s not clear whether the hatchback will get the recently launched semi-hybrid engine seen on the Baleno. The 1.2-litre Dual Jet, Dual VVT engine produces 90bhp of power on tap and 114Nm of torque.

Toyota Glanza will come in two trims, ‘G’ and ‘V’ which will compete with Maruti Baleno Zeta and Alpha variant. Although, the car is identical to its cousin it is expected to be priced a little premium than the Baleno.
Considering it a Toyota, one gets a 1,00,000 km warranty or 3 years whichever is at its earliest. Maruti Baleno just offers a warrant of 40,000 km or 2 years.
Toyota Glanza is expected to be launched in early June and will be priced around Rs 5.70lakh and will go upto 8.1 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Once launched, it will take on the Maruti Baleno, Hyundai Elite i20, Honda Jazz, Volkswagen Polo and the upcoming Tata Altroz.
