The Fortuner TRD Sportivo will see only the cosmetic changes to the exteriors and interiors.
The country’s most loved SUV, Toyota Fortuner, is soon going to launch a top of the line trim, sporting a TRD Kit. The changes mostly include the cosmetic one and there are no changes under the hood for the tough off roader.
The TRD stands for Toyota Racing Development and the changes will include a redesigned front bumper with a lot of chrome inserts and the reworked fog light housing. Toyota Fortuner will also see TRD badging on the exteriors of the SUV and blacked out winged mirrors will be on offer. The colour option onboard includes a white body with a black contrasting roof.
Internationally, the cabin inside of the TRD gets black and red treatment and door sills also feature a TRD logo. The key fob will also get the TRD treatment. The dashboard, steering wheel and the soft touch material also receive red stitching.

Internationally, the TRD Fortuner receives 20–inch wheels, black colour highlight on the front number plate, coil springs and new suspension set up, LED backlight with TRD Sportivo symbol, LED slider with LED indicator with TRD Sportivo.
Safety features on board will continue with 7-airbags, ABS with EBD and ESP, Seat belt reminder, High speed alert system, Rear parking sensors, Brake assist, Hill hold control, Traction control system and Hill descent control.
Mechanically, there will be no changes and the Fortuner will continue with the 2.8-litre turbocharged diesel engine. It produces a total of 174 bhp with 450 Nm of peak torque. Transmission options include a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 6-speed AT. The prices for the same will see a bracket of Rs 35 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).

The new-gen Toyota Fortuner was launched in 2016 and the SUV has been averaging monthly sales of about 1,500 units. It competes with the likes of Ford Endeavour (which falls second in sales after Fortuner), Isuzu MU-X, Mahindra Alturas G4 and Skoda Kodiaq.
After the TRD Fortuner launch, the Japanese manufacturer will shift focus to its premium MPV, the Vellfire. It will be brought in through the CBU route and give competition to the Mercedes V-class, the latter is already putting out a handsome amount of sales. Toyota Vellfire will see a price tag of upwards Rs 70 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
