The Japanese carmaker introducer a new trim to improve the sales of Fortuner in the Indian market. Other than some cosmetic upgrades, there are no mechanical changes.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has launched the much-awaited TRD version of its best selling SUV, Fortuner, in India. The prices for the same starts at Rs 33.85 lakh, ex-showroom, Delhi.
Toyota Fortuner TRD is only available in a single tone pearl white colour with black dual-tone exteriors in India. Also, transmission onboard includes a 6-speed automatic gearbox and comes with 4×2 system.
Speaking on the launch, Mr. N. Raja, Deputy Managing Director, Toyota Kirloskar Motor Pvt. Ltd. said, “The Fortuner has been dominating the SUV segment since its launch way back in 2009 and today it is heartening to see this flagship model completing a glorious decade of undisputed leadership, emerging as the ‘SUV of choice’ for Indians across the country.

Furthermore, owing to an increase in average per capita income, this segment has grown over the years and among Toyota’s offerings, the Fortuner has enjoyed unwavering loyalty from customers who appreciate its exemplary driving experience in all terrains, unique sense of power, style, imposing road presence, adventure coupled with low cost of ownership and high resale value.
The changes on the Fortuner TRD includes stylish front and rear bumpers spoiler along with TRD radiator grille garnish. It also comes in 18-inch charcoal alloy wheels packs a TRD badging.
The interiors come with sporty black and maroon colour leather seats along with red stitch accents on the upholstery. This new Fortuner gives road presence, good stability and packs performance on tap.
Under the hood, it comes with the same 2.8-litre turbocharged diesel engine which produces a total of 174 bhp at 3400 rpm and a peak torque of 450 Nm. As said earlier, it is mated to 6-speed AT along with sequential and paddle shift.

Some features of the car include LED projector headlamps, LED DRLs and LED taillights. It comes with a push start/stop button and also gets illuminated entry system – puddle lamps on ORVMs.
It also gets a touchscreen system with a large multi-information display. It gets automatic climate control with auto rear cooler and for better driving conditions it comes with Eco and Power drive modes.
Safety features of the SUV include 7 airbags, ABS with EBD, VSC [Vehicle Stability Control] with BA [Brake Assist], Impact absorbing structure with pedestrian protection support, Front Seats: WIL Concept Seats [Whiplash Injury Lessening, Child Restraint System: ISOFIX + Tether Anchor on 2nd Row, Front Row: Pretensioner + Force Limiter, Hill Start Assist Control (HAC), ABS with EBD, Speed Auto Lock with Emergency Unlock and Emergency Brake Signal.
