As per the latest spotting of a few custom Toyota Fortuner SUVs, it looks like they could very well join the Indian Army. Fortuner is the most successful 7-seat off-roader in India. It was launched back in 2009 in our market. It has been the most popular product in this segment ever since. The only worthy rival all this while was the Ford Endeavour. However, Ford quit manufacturing cars in India in September 2021. From then on, the Japanese carmaker has introduced various iterations of the Fortuner. Even the prices range over Rs 51 lakh, ex-showroom for the top trim today. For now, let us take a look at the details of this latest case.

Toyota Fortuner For Indian Army?

In all honesty, we are not sure if this is an official vehicle for the Indian Army or just a random modification in the aftermarket by a private individual. Nevertheless, it is intriguing to witness the modifications on this SUV. As per the caption of this post, this Fortuner has a bulletproof body, roof arch and jammer boxes. Moreover, the reliability associated with Toyota cars makes them desirable for operations in extreme conditions.

Fleet of the Indian Army
The Indian Army has had numerous cars in its fleet over the last several years. While the models were inherently similar to what the general public was getting, there were distinct modifications to make them suitable for the Army use. Some of the most prominent cars on this list include the Maruti Gypsy, Tata Safari, Mahindra Scorpio and Toyota Hilux. The Hilux was inducted into the Army only recently. Furthermore, Mahindra also developed an indigenous Armado ALSV for the Indian Army. That is a hardcore vehicle designed specifically for combat purposes at high altitudes.
