Toyota Fortuner 4×4 Automatic India launch has silently taken place, as the new variant of the popular Fortuner SUV is now available at Toyota India dealerships across the country. The Toyota Fortuner new variant also gets slightly updated exteriors and interiors. The prices have also been increased across the range due to the recent rollback of the excise duty cuts as reported earlier. Along with the Toyota Fortuner new variant the company also introduced a slightly updated Innova with airbags standard across all variants as was reported earlier.The Fortuner is the best selling SUV in its segment currently and the new variant would help push sales even further. Along with the new 4×4 automatic variant Toyota has also launched another new variant, the Fortuner 2.5 TRD Sportivo with a smaller 2.5 litre engine making 144 PS.
Price
The 4×4 Autmatic variant is priced at Rs. 26,49,429 (ex-showroom, Delhi). The new Fortuner is now available in the price range of Rs. 24,17,200 and Rs. 26,49,429, Ex-showroom Delhi (post increased excise duty).
What’s New?
The updates made to the Fortuner are restricted to the new variant and are merely minor cosmetic updates outside and inside:
- 12 spoke 17 inch dark grey alloys
- All black interiors
- Front fog lamps with silver bezel
- Touch screen DVD display and navigation with voice recognition
- Smoked front and rear lamps
- Two new paint shades- Bronze mica metallic and Silver metallic
The Toyota Fortuner new variant is powered by the existing 3.0 litre diesel that powers the other variants. The engine puts out 168bhp and is mated to a 5 speed automatic transmission.
Following the update the Fortuner with the 3.0 litre diesel is now available in four variants- 4×2 Manual, 4×2 Automatic, 4×4 Manual and the new 4×4 Automatic and the new 2.5 litre comes in two variants- 4×2 Manual and 4×2 Automatic. The Fortuner 4×4 Automatic’s major competition in India includes the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport which is also available with both automatic and manual transmission options.
