Here is the list of the top-five Indian carmakers during the month of February 2019. Check out their sales figures and market share.
For the month of February 2019, almost all carmakers in India observed a decline in sales in comparison to the previous month of January 2019, baring a few. Similar is the status when we compare the sales of last month, with the sales the carmakers observed during the same period last year.
For the month of February 2019, Maruti Suzuki was once again at the top. The Indo-Japanese automaker clocked a total of 1,36,912 units of sale in the Indian market. This accounts for a 0.2% increase over the same period last year when the sales for the Maruti Suzuki stood at 1,36,648 units. However, if we compare the sales figures of Feb’19 with the one in Jan’19, then the we see that the company observed a decline of 2%. With this, the current market share for Maruti Suzuki stands at 51.8%.
The second position was held by Hyundai with a total sales figure of 43,110 units for the month of February 2019. This accounts for a 3% decrease in sales if we compare the sales of the carmaker for the same period last year i.e. 44,505 during February 2018. The sales figures achieved by the South-Korean automaker during the month of January 2019 stood at 45,803, hence, for Feb’19, we see a decline of 6%. Hyundai is the second largest carmaker in India after Maruti Suzuki and currently commands a market share of 16.3%.
The third position was held by Mahindra. The homegrown automaker achieved a total sales figure of 20,036 units for the month of February 2019. For the same period last year, the sale figure for the company stood at 21,062, hence observing a 5% decline in sales. During the month of January 2019, the sales for the company stood at 22,399 units, an 11% decline in Feb’19. In terms of market share, Mahindra currently commands a dominance of 7.6%.
Standing on the fourth position
The fifth position is held by Honda Cars India with a sales figure of 13,527 units for the month of February 2019. The automaker observed a 16% increase, the higher amongst all, in comparison to the sales that it did during the same month last year which stood at 11,650 units. However, the Japanese automaker observed a decline in the sale of 26% in comparison to its January 2019 sales which stood at 18,261 units. Honda currently commands the fifth largest market share at 5.1%.
