Maruti Jimny has been the newest launch in our market and the owners are wasting no time to slap on ginormous mags to make them look unique.
There have been tons of instances where the owners of the new Maruti Jimny have approached the aftermarket modification houses to install colossal alloy wheels. In fact, some of them have even installed alloys that are 22 inches. This is simply insane since the stock Jimny comes with 15-inch alloys. Such upsizing certainly enhances the road presence and ground clearance a lot, but there are some downsides to them as well. In any case, we have compiled a list of the Jimny where such alloys have been used by the owners.

22-inch Alloy
This first set of alloys is mammoth 22-inchers. One could clearly see just how wide they are. In fact, they are extending out of the width of the body. There are 10 spokes on this making it quite attractive. You would notice that the tyre also bears a low profile which might not be ideal for off-roading. Nevertheless, the aesthetic appeal of the SUV is greatly enhanced with these.

Another 22-inchers
This video has been posted by altolover6250 on YouTube. As one could see, the black Jimny is wearing gigantic 22-inch alloys with a unique design. It looks like the turbine pattern which looks even cooler when the vehicle is in motion. Apart from that, the sheer width of the tyre is just unbelievable. The Jimny has been raised a lot from the ground due to the size of these alloys.

Jimny with 21-inch Alloys
This is another example of large alloy wheels on a lightweight off-roading SUV. These are 21-inch alloys that have been installed by the owner. The details of this are shared by the vlogger on his YouTube channel, CruiseRider. Just to flex, this owner has got 5 alloy wheels and the 5th one is seen mounted on the tailgate. In fact, many owners are preferring the 21-inch alloys and there are tons of videos on the internet about the same.

20-inch Alloys
We also have many instances of Jimny owners getting 20-inch alloys as well. The first of these has been uploaded by sahiltokas660 on YouTube. It shows the SUV with striking alloys. They feature a dual-7-spoke design pattern that looks quite elegant. Compared to some of the others on this list, it certainly looks relatively normal both in terms of aesthetics, as well as the tyre size.

20-inch Alloy Wheels
Finally, we have recorded yet another case of Jimny sporting the 20-inch mags. However, this design reminds us of a certain Mercedes car from the post which used to get somewhat similar pattern for its alloys. In any case, this design looks quite toned-down and subtle in contrast to the extravagant ones we have seen in this post. All in all, it is evident that upsizing alloys is a hot trend among the Jimny owners lately.

What We Think
While these alloys definitely enhance the road presence of the SUV, the practical advantages are almost non-existent. Larger wheels are heavier, which reduces the mileage significantly. On top of that, there are difficult to steer. Also, larger alloys use low-profile tyres which are disadvantageous for off-roading. The sidewall is thin which compromises ride quality and bump absorber characteristics. Thereafter, the calibration of brakes, suspension, ABS, Traction Control, etc is disturbed by the use of these large wheels. You must make modifications to all of these to ensure that there are no effects on the performance which is a much more expensive affair and can only be done by professionals. Finally, due to the increased radius, the speedometer is bound to give inaccurate readings. Therefore, we wouldn’t recommend these to anyone as there could be long-term issues with the mechanicals of the vehicle.
