Modified Maruti Alto cars are very less in the country, as they are just made for practicality and high fuel efficiency. Here’s one great example of that!
Here is a modified Maruti Alto 800 from West Bengal which looks a lot exciting. The small hatch has been in the country for two decades now and since then, it has remained one of the best selling cars of India. Till 2013, it was not the entry level hatchback, but after the Maruti 800 was discontinued, it remains the cheapest Maruti car.
Here’s an old Maruti Alto 800 that has been modified to reach a top speed of 180 km/hr. The speed is also electronically limited otherwise. It can reach 100 km/hr in just under 10 seconds which is something unimagine for an Alto 800. In its original avatar, the engine produces just 54 PS and 72 Nm of peak torque.

Engine related modifications include Stage 2 Engine Heads with HKF High-Lift camshaft and NGK Iridium plugs. The engine block gets a bigger bore to accommodate customized pistons. The throttle body and fuel injectors have also been customized to a bigger size. To complete the tuning, this Alto gets a custom fully body exhaust system and a custom ECU which helps the engine redline to 7000 RPM.
Cosmetic upgrades include 7.5J rims with 185/60 R13 tyres, custom body wrap, tinted headlamps, a roof mounted rear spoiler and custom wheel arches. From the outside, the Alto seems to just have some cosmetic upgrades, but there’s a lot riding under the hood. Talking about the cabin, it borrows its instrument cluster from Alto VXI and that’s why the tachometer is also there.
Then there’s Momo steering wheel, Momo gear knob, carbon fibre detailing on the dashboard and a Sony Music System with a 12-inch subwoofer. All this has cost the owner near to Rs 3.5 Lakhs. That’s the price that you will have to pay if you buy a brand new base variant of BS6 Alto 800.
