Latest reports suggest motorcycle thefts are over 9 times more common than car thefts. Of these, a favorite of thieves is the Royal Enfield Classic 350. Bike Thief Starts a RE Classic 350 in Merely 18 Seconds!
A video on X (formerly Twitter) shows a bike thief easily breaking the lock of a Classic 350 and starting it within seconds. He sits on the seat and easily breaks the lock using his feet. Next, he gets off the vehicle and cuts the wiring using his teeth. In the next step, he bypasses the ignition system that requires the key to start the motorcycle just by hotwiring. All of this takes him just 18 seconds, while cops watch in amazement. This simply goes on to show the ease with which an expert thief can steal a RE Classic 350.
We’re not sure if this entire procedure was conducted on a stolen bike but it definitely shows how easily such thieves can steal someone’s prized possession. Therefore, we advise motorcycle owners to ensure safe parking of their vehicles. Also, one can use a wire lock or a wheel lock to try and protect their bikes from such thieves. Most such miscreants look for easy targets to ensure they flee with the vehicle within seconds. In such a scenario, using an additional lock can be a major deterrent for such vehicle lifters.

Our View
While some of the latest two-wheelers come with anti-theft devices similar to cars, most scooters and motorcycles continue to have the age-old locking mechanism. This makes them highly vulnerable to theft, especially when not parked inside a gated premises. Hence, we urge all manufacturers to start equipping their models with anti-theft devices or at least start providing them as an optional feature. We even urge all the owners of two-wheelers like RE Classic 350, which come with a basic locking mechanism, to invest in an anti-theft device.
