In a fresh report, Honda has revealed that it might sell the current Honda City alongside the upcoming fifth-generation 2020 City.
Honda is going to launch the new generation City soon, which was actually due in March. The fifth-generation of the sedan has not been revealed for India as of now, but there are certain specific details out. The latest report suggests that the outgoing version of the City will co-exist with the upcoming version.
The report says that with two versions of City on sale, it could be able to explore a completely new segment. While the new-gen City will be for private buyers, the outgoing version could enter the cab fleet. Till now, we might not have seen a Honda City as an Uber or Ola, but possibly, we will see them in future.

Not just that, but the outgoing City will be much cheaper than its current prices. For example, Maruti still sells the first generation Dzire with a Tour suffix but only for the cab fleet. Similarly, by reducing the prices it will then be presented to Ola, Uber and private tours and travels. Many cars have done well in the commercial segment.
As for the new generation Honda City, it is expected to be priced between Rs 10.5 Lakhs to Rs 16 Lakhs (ex-showroom). The prices will be comparatively a bit higher than the current one and also more than its rivals. We are also expecting the prices of top-end variant of City to be near to the base-variant of Honda Civic.
The new City will continue with the same 1.5 Litre petrol and diesel engines. The petrol engine is likely to get a mild-hybrid system as standard fitment. The gearbox options will also remain the same but the diesel variants will now get a CVT as an option. The power figures are also expected to be more or less the same.
