Tesla recently launch its commercial electric truck called Semi and PepsiCo was its first customer who had ordered a bunch of these.
In a hilarious and concerning chain of events, a Tesla Semi electric truck breaks down and a diesel truck was, ironically, seen towing it to the workshop. After a delay of 5 years, PepsiCo got its hands on the electric trucks from Tesla. PepsiCo and other such huge corporations are in the process of transitioning to electrified vehicles to reduce the overall carbon footprint of their fleet. While the growth in the passenger vehicle segment across the globe is exponential, the commercial segment is catching up too.

Tesla Semi Electric Truck Breaks Down
This post has been shared by trucki_justin on Instagram. It captures an ironic scenario. It looks like a Tesla truck with Lays branding on it, broke down on the road. Digging a bit deeper allowed us to know that this incident took place somewhere in California, USA recently. Since it was on the road, a diesel-powered towing vehicle had to be called and the electric truck is seen being towed away to the workshop to diagnose the issue and fix it.

We can only hope that this is an isolated incident because if these electric trucks are seen in this condition from just a few hundred that have been delivered, it is not a good sign. On the contrary, we must also understand that this is the first batch of EVs from a fresh production line. Hence, certain minor issues can crop up. That is just a part of the automobile manufacturing process. If it is one such reason, it could easily be rectified in the next batches. However, if it is something more grave, then Tesla has a problem on its hands.

Specs
Tesla is notorious for not revealing all the specs of its products including the passenger vehicles and this Semi. However, it was confirmed that it carries a tri-motor setup which leads us to believe that the power output could be somewhere in the vicinity of 900 hp and the torque could well be around 1,600 lb-ft (2,170 Nm). Tesla also claims that the 0-60 mph acceleration can be achieved in an unbelievable 20 secs when it is loaded which is due to its drag coefficient of just 0.36. The prices start at $150,000 (Rs 1.23 Crore).
