This lap race between a modified Tesla Model 3 and Porsche GT3 RS is exhilarating. On one hand, the Model 3 is an EV with tons of modifications to bring its weight down. On the other hand, the Porsche GT3 is one of the most performance-focused machines on the planet. What is interesting is the fact that both these are also considered daily drivers. That is quite insane to think about, considering the kind of power they generate. Let us take a look at the details of this lap race.

Tesla Model 3 vs Porsche GT3 RS Lap Race
This video comes from Donut on YouTube. The hosts have the two vehicles side by side. First of all, they explain the changes to the Model 3. The entire interior has been stripped down. All ‘unnecessary’ components have been removed. Many components have been created from carbon fibre to save weight. There are additional elements to maximum aerodynamic efficiency including a splitter at the front and a spoiler at the rear. However, the EV has been designed to offer the highest performance for a short duration. As a result, the host directly goes onto the track for the first lap.

They decide to do a complete round of the lap. In the first attempt, the driver took the Porsche. The iconic exhaust note of the Porsche is quite exciting. The German sportscar is able to do this lap in a respectable 1:21:30. Then follows the Tesla Model 3. It makes no sound which is what the hosts understandably find weird. But the driver mentions that as a result, he was able to concentrate on just driving. Finally, the EV was able to complete the same lap in 1:21:87. This is hardly any meaningful difference. That is a perfect testament to the performance of an EV in comparison to a legendary sportscar.
