The latest announcement from Tesla about the Model Y is quite interesting. Tesla is the biggest electric carmaker in the world. It has been the poster child for revolutionizing the electric mobility industry across the globe for a decade now. The exponential rise in EVs across the globe can be attributed to the fact that Tesla left no other option for other carmakers than to jump on the EV bandwagon to ensure a timely transformation. Hence, the sales of EVs are at an all-time high today and the growth is only going up further. Let us take a look at the details of the Model Y of the future.

Tesla Model Y Announcement
This video comes from Robert Rosenfeld on YouTube. He brings some interesting observations. Firstly, the prices of the Model Y Long Range are up by $500 in the USA. This might be the first of many price hikes from the US auto giant. In the past, there were multiple price cuts from Tesla to wage a price war to fend off the rivals. Now that the growth is back on track, the price rises might occur more frequently. That is one thing that potential buyers need to keep in mind to save some money.

Secondly, Tesla is updating the Model 3. In fact, it will now have a new interior layout with tons of more features to enhance the comfort and convenience of the passengers. Apart from that, Tesla is also removing the stock wiper and indicator sticks from the side of the steering wheel. Also, it is offering a round steering wheel instead of a York-style unit. But the Model Y is not getting these immediately. That will make it slightly less attractive as people might flock to buy the newer Tesla models instead. They might even save some money with this. Hence, it needs to update the Model Y soon enough to ensure that it remains one of the most popular EVs on the planet.

What We Think
Tesla is constantly updating its portfolio. However, the concern is that it is launching market-specific updates to its cars. For instance, some colours are available on some models only in certain markets like China and Europe. In this way, there is a lack of consistency among Tesla cars across the globe. That is one thing Tesla will need to keep in mind going forward. It must bring some standardization across its range, especially as it plans to expand to more international markets like India.
