Tata Motors, the popular Indian passenger car manufacturer, has come up with a new mid-level trim for its Tigor compact sedan. Christened as the ‘XM’ model, this new variant finds itself slotted above the entry-level XE trim. The new Tata Tigor XM has an ex-showroom price of Rs 4.99 lakh, which is only Rs 40,000 higher than the cost of the XE trim. The launch of the new XM variant takes place just ahead of the fast-approaching festive period. In all probability, this new mid-level model should help Tigor find more buyers during the surge in car sales in the festive period. ALSO SEE- Tata Tigor Test Drive Review
Tata Tigor XM Price
Price (ex-showroom, New Delhi) | Rs 4.99 lakh |
On sale at an ex-showroom price of Rs 4.99 lakh, the new Tigor XM variant is slotted between the XE and XT trim. With its launch, the huge price gap of over Rs 70,000 between XE and XT trims has been strategically filled. The XM model costs roughly Rs 40,000 more than the XE variant. However, the increase in price is justified through many more features that add to the car’s desirability.
According to Mr. Vivek Srivatsa – Head – Marketing, PVBU, Tata Motors, “We are constantly working towards filling in spaces in each segment and TIGOR XM is our response to this growing segment. As per our turnaround strategy, we are working with a renewed focus and energy to improve our market share and bring products faster to market.”

Tata Tigor XM Mileage
Petrol | 22-23 KMPL |
Diesel | 25-27 KMPL |
There is no change in the mileage. Akin to other trim levels, the new Tigor XM offers up to 23 KMPL from its petrol engine and up to 27 KMPL from its Diesel motor. This makes the Tata Tigor one of the best mileage cars on sale in the country. It is noteworthy that in a mileage conscious market like ours, having a high fuel efficiency helps the sales of any car model. Hence, the new Tigor XM, which comes with fuel efficient engine along with a long list of features, should enjoy a wide appeal.

Max. Width | 1677 mm |
Overall Height | 1537 mm |

Being merely a new trim level, there is absolutely no change in the design or styling of the car. Hence, even the dimensions remain the same. The Tigor is a sub-4-metre compact sedan that boasts of a notchback design. This makes the car avoid suffering from the oddball proportions that many other sub-4-metre sedans are marred with.
Tata Tigor XM Competition
Mostly, the new Tata Tigor XM model will rival the mid-level models of other compact sedans in the market. The Tigor would have become a direct rival to the Chevrolet Essentia Compact Sedan. However, Chevy’s exit from the Indian market means the Tigo, which is essentially a sub-compact sedan, won’t see any direct rival anytime soon.
