Upcoming Tata Tiago EV and Tigor EV might be soon available for the normal buyers in the market. The Tigor EV cars are given to some government employees. It is expected to launch in the Indian market in 2019.
In its upcoming cars list, Tata plans to launch the Electric variants of Tiago and Tigor. The Tata Tiago EV and Tigor EV might launch soon, as per the latest media reports. Tata has already allocated a selected number of Tigor EV to the government officials for testing. Regarding which, the officials had complained that the sedan was very underpowered. So, now, the Tiago and Tigor EVs are expected to launch in 2019. We expect the prices of both the EVs to be a bit high.

It is going to be the cheapest Electric car in India!
As per various speculative reports going around, the Tata Tiago EV and Tigor EV might be priced under Rs 10 Lakhs itself. The government officials have received Tigor EVs in the base, mid and top end variants. So, both the cars would have a proper range and would not just come based on the top-spec trim.

But do we have the infrastructure for it?
Almost daily, some or the other policy is made for the betterment of EV concept. The GST tax rates for after-market Lithium-ion batteries has been reduced from 28 to 18%. Also, heavy infrastructure planning is going on. In a year or two, a considerable infrastructure for the betterment of EVs will be available in India. Along with this, many automakers are also keen on developing their EVs in the Indian market.
What would the specifications of the Tata Tiago EV and Tigor EV be?
Both the cars will come with a 3AC electric motor. The engine will produce around 114 BHP of power and 200 Nm of torque. The reported top-speed of both the cars is around 135 km/hr. The riding range of the car on the full range is around 130 kms on a single charge. The engine will come mated to a single-speed transmission, sending power to the front wheels.

The current Tigor EV comes with a 216 Ah 16V battery that produces very low power and torque range. The maximum speed recorded is just around 100 km/hr. It comes with a riding range of 130 km on a single charge. It will come with options of a fast charger and a normal charger. The fast charger will charge the EV from 0-80% in just 90 minutes. The normal charger will take around 3 hours to charge the car fully.
