With rising fuel prices, a budget CNG car is a great option for Indian users. The Tata Tiago CNG is one of the best CNG cars in India. It is also the most affordable car by the Indian company. While the Tata Tiago was initially launched in both petrol and diesel (discontinued by 2020) variants, it has been updated with an optional CNG kit. The company claims that it will offer improved ride quality at an affordable cost. Now, AutoHunters India have put the Tata Tiago through a mileage test. As you can see in the above video, the extensive Tata Tiago CNG mileage test was conducted with three people. The AC was also kept on throughout the journey. During this test, the car is driven in the city and on the highway for 204 km. Subsequently, the mileage is calculated by using the tank full to tank full method. The results turned out to be quite surprising. The car consumed 5.6kg CNG for the whole trip. The car essentially offered mileage of 35km per kg, which is over 33% higher than ARAI-tested figure of 26.49 km/kg. Overall, it offered commendable performance throughout the ride. With a 4-star safety Global NCAP rating, the Tata Tiago is also one of the safer products in its segment. It carries safety features like ABS with EBD, Overspeed warning, central locking, and more. For the CNG model, the company has added a gas leak detection feature and an advanced ECU system. Also, in case of an accident, the car will cut-ff the valves automatically and the CNG left in the pipe will be dissipated in the atmosphere.

Tata Tiago CNG comes with a naturally aspirated 1.2-liter petrol engine that offers 86PS and 113 Nm. This engine comes with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT transmission. The CNG option (with its petrol engine) produces 73PS and comes with a 5-speed MT. The Tata Tiago CNG is now available for purchase for Rs 6,69 Lakhs (ex-showroom). It competes with the likes of the Maruti WagonR CNG, Hyundai Santro CNG, and Maruti Celerio CNG.
