Upcoming Tata AKTIV Crossover hatchback features extra plastic cladding to look more rugged and robust. The crosshatch competes with Maruti Suzuki Celerio X and Renault Kwid.
Tata Motors has spotted a lack of competition and its customer’s will to shell out more in the customisation department. Tata Motors launched their Nexon Aero Edition recently which was showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo. While the regular Tiago offers similar specs in terms of ground clearance, wheel size and suspension parts, we believe the Tata AKTIV Crossover hatchback is a mere visual upgrade. Tata Motors has not only added a fresh set of products to their portfolio, their latest entries are easy on the pocket too. This often leaves the customer longing for more and with competitive pricing, the customer’s pocket still bears a little weight. Tata Motors wants to capitalise on the same providing several customisation options on their vehicle lineup for the customer to choose from according to their taste and requirement. The upcoming Tata Tiago JTP performance hatchback will be rolling out soon and will sport a 1.2-litre turbocharged engine good for 109.5 PS of power and 150 Nm of max torque.
Tata AKTIV Crossover hatchback – Introduction
Spotted at a dealership, the upcoming Tata AKTIV Crossover hatchback features extra plastic cladding on the sides and enhanced bumper protection on the front and rear. While the official figures are yet to arrive, we fear that the latest cross hatch from Tata will actually end up with less minimum ground clearance due to the additional cladding. The same was noticed on the Maruti Suzuki Celerio X. What’s missing are the additional cladding around the wheel arches. We feel the Tata’s crosshatch should’ve invested a bit more and introduced a complete package.
Tata AKTIV Crossover hatchback – Kit Specifications
The upcoming Tata AKTIV Crossover hatchback features new lower front and rear bumper skid plates painted in chrome, side underbody plastic cladding with a strip of chrome running across and finally body graphics on the sides of the hatch. These additions enhance the road presence of the hatchback while providing extra ruggedness to the vehicle. The quality of the additional plastic parts will require testing to comment about. The dealership the cross-hatch was spotted at failed to release the price of the kit but according to the report on Overdrive, it would cost somewhere around INR 30,000.
