This Tata Sumo with a fresh new paint and a few customizations has received a new lease of life. Sumo is an iconic name in the Indian automobile industry. It was extremely popular back in the day. People use it for all sorts of applications. These include using it as a passenger carrier, luggage carrier or an off-roader. Due to its affordable price and rugged build, it was prevalent in semi-urban and rural markets. Hence, it had to take massive abuse. Still, it shined due to its great capabilities. For now, let us take a look at the details of the old Tata Sumo in a new avatar.
Tata Sumo with New Paint
This post comes to us from garage_68__ on Instagram. It captures the before and after clips of the legendary SUV. In the first phase of the video, we see a relatively regular Sumo. It has a gold colour and bears all the elements of the regular Sumo. We see the paint slightly worn out and the body certainly looks a bit beaten down. The steel wheels with covers remind us of the era gone by. In fact, there are a few scratches on the surface as well. Some parts were even broken and needed repair. Then we witness the transitional phase where a car shop is working on the SUV.
They fix the broken parts, install stylish alloy wheels and paint the Tata Sumo in Elbaite Green colour. It offers a matte finish which elevates the road presence of the SUV. To ensure that each and every part of the Sumo gets painted, they remove the body panels completely. That is how a car is painted by the OEM too. The bumper and side body cladding get a black appearance which lends a sporty and tough outlook. The side steps are also painted in black colour. The turn indicators mounted on the extreme edges of the bonnet remind us of the G-Wagon. All in all, this is a complete transformation of the old Sumo with minimal effort.
Our View
I have been reporting about car modifications for a long time now. While a of people opt for hardcore customizations which change the very appearance of a vehicle, I prefer the ones which are subtler. Also, most exterior modifications are illegal in India. Even for a colour change, you must first get permission from the RTO and then take the vehicle there, after the new paint to click photos. Hence, the details are attached to your new registration certificate. Make sure to follow this procedure before heading to any car customization shop.
