Many YouTubers take the route of drag race competitions to test the real-life capabilities of popular cars. This Tata Safari vs Mahindra Scorpio N drag race is a prime case in point.
Here is an interesting video of a drag race between a Tata Safari and Mahindra Scorpio N. Both these SUVs compete in the same segment. The 7-seat SUVs are popular among car buyers but the Scorpio N became particularly famous after it received lakhs of bookings at the launch. Mahindra has been struggling to keep up with the demand ever since. But the facelifted version of the Safari is around the corner to challenge the Scorpio and its sibling, the XUV700 in this space in times to come. For now, let us take a look at the results of the drag race.

Tata Safari vs Mahindra Scorpio N Drag Race
The video has been uploaded by Arav Sethi on YouTube. The team have chosen the sportiest settings for the race in both cars which is understandable. This includes Sports Mode, Traction OFF and AC OFF. There are 3 people in each SUV. In the first round, the Scorpio N launches better and is ahead in the initial phase. However, after crossing around 100 km/h, the Safari overtakes it convincingly. This proves the latter’s strong mid-range. In the second round, the Safari stays behind right from the launch.

To maintain consistent results, they swap the drivers for the third round. In this case, the Safari gets a much better launch due to the experienced driver. As a result, the SUVs stay side-by-side for the most part. Toward the end of the race, the Safari overtakes the Scorpio N once again. A similar result was achieved in the fourth round despite changing the driver. Hence, it was concluded that the Safari has a better mid-range while the Scorpio N is great at launching and at speeds upto 100 km/h.

Specs Comparison
The SUVs used for this drag race have diesel engines. Safari has a 2.0-litre turbo diesel engine that makes 165 hp and 350 Nm of peak power and torque. On the other hand, the Scorpio N in diesel is powered by a 2.2-litre mHawk engine that belts out 175 hp and 400 Nm of peak power and torque.
