A heavily camouflaged Tata Safari Storme facelift test mule has been spied raiding the Nilgiri mountains. A closer look at the shots and one can tell the amount of meticulous covering, Tata did on this Storme which makes us believe that it will bring a lot of changes to the present edition. Stickers at the rear window indicates some interior upgrades which we can look forward in the future. The test mule doesn’t fail to shield the privacy of the Storme but as far as anticipating the upgrades is considered, Tata can switch from side facing seats at the rear to a fully dedicated third row. But then again, if the chasis remains unchanged, it might not be all that comfortable back there.
The recent launch of the hatchback Tata Bolt saw the premium JBL Harman infotainment system on its dashboard. The facelifted Tata Safari Storme, might carry the same system, just to sound plush. Mechanically speaking, Storme might adopt Tata Aria’s 2.2 litre VARICOR engine which will give a boost of 10 BHP to the current 140 BHP / 320 Nm engine specification.
Lately Tata seems to try its luck in all the popular segment viz. hatchback, sedan and SUV. Tata recently unveiled the Zest compact sedan and Bolt hatchback which will be launched in 2014. Now, with signs that the Safari Storme too will be upgraded, Tata will have a lot in its plate to offer and market. Indian auto brands have often been criticized for poor marketing strategies as compared to its western counterparts. This undoubtedly has resulted in a drop in popularity. The Storme was released in 2012 and hasn’t seen as much fanfare as other SUVs like the Duster. Hope this update changes things for the better.
We will keep you posted on the New Storme. Watch out !
