The upcoming Tata Q501 SUV has been spotted again. As has been the scenario so far, the upcoming premium SUV is being tested under the guise of Land Rover Discovery Sport. It’s being said that the Q501 will share its platform with the Discovery Sport. In fact, even many suspension components will come from the Land Rover model. Akin to the JLR offering, the upcoming premium SUV from Tata Motors will be available in both 5- and 7-seat layouts.
Powering the Tata Q501 SUV will be a locally manufactured version of the 2.0-litre Diesel engine that powers the Jeep Compass. For its premium SUV, the company will source as many as 70,000 units of the Multijet motor from FCA India. The oil-burner outputs a maximum power of roughly 170 BHP. The new Q501 SUV is likely to launch by the end of this year in a price bracket of Rs 15-20 Lakh (ex-showroom). We expect to see a pre-production prototype at the Auto Expo 2018.
