The Tata Altroz is one of the most popular premium hatchbacks in the Indian market. It is powered by a 1.2-liter naturally aspirated petrol engine that outputs 86 PS and 113 Nm of peak power and torque, respectively. While the 1.2-liter turbo petrol engine offers 110 PS/ 140 Nm, a 1.5-liter diesel engine produces 90 PS/ 200 Nm. All variants come with a 5-speed manual gearbox. What happens when the premium hatchback engages in a literal tug of war with a sub-compact SUV. A new video by ‘Review by Aj’ puts the Tata Altroz against a Tata Punch. While both cars are available in the same price range and come with the same engine, however, they feature very different body styles. As you can see in the video above, the Tata Punch was the winner. However, there were some glitches with the Altroz. In the second attempt, the Tata Punch was a clear winner. It easily pulled Altroz away. The third tug of war also had the same result. Overall, the Tata Punch came out to be a powerful vehicle of the two. The Tata Punch is powered by a Tiago-sourced 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine (also available on the Altroz and the Tigor) that offers 86 hp and 113 Nm of peak power and torque, respectively. Transmission options will include a 5-speed manual and a 5-speed AMT. The micro SUV boasts a 5-star safety rating at the Global NCAP and offers the experience of an SUV at a much more affordable price. While the base model (Pure) starts at Rs 5.48 Lakh, the top variant (Tata Punch Creative AMT) comes with a price tag of Rs 9.08 Lakh (introductory, ex-showroom Delhi). The sub-compact SUV (at just 3.8mm) is giving competition to the likes of Mahindra KUV100 NxT, Maruti Ignis, Renault Kiger, and Nissan Magnite.
