Tata is about to launch the electric version of the Punch in our market soon.
Tata Punch EV will be the next electric car from the Indian auto giant in our market. At the moment, Tata Motors is the segment leader in EV sales in the country. In fact, it has over 80% of market share. That is due to its simple strategy of leveraging the popularity of its ICE cars. It has simply converted these models into electric cars. Apart from swapping the powertrains, there are barely any major changes to these cars. Currently, it offers the electric version of the Nexon, Tiago and Tigor. Once the Punch gets added to that list, the lineup will be quite formidable. Here are the details.

Tata Punch EV Spied
This latest spy image comes from carsadvisor on Instagram. As is the case with almost all new cars, the test mule is under heavy camouflage. From the front, one could recognize the LED DRLs on the bonnet. Apart from that, the overall silhouette gives away its true credentials. There is a rugged radiator grille and a sturdy bumper, accentuating the tough nature. However, the fact that there is a charging cable attached to the front unequivocally confirms that this is an electric car. This means that the charging socket will be positioned on the left side of the front bumper. Finally, it might also borrow the two-spoke steering wheel with illuminated logo and touchscreen display from the Nexon facelift.

What We Think
Tata Motors holds a prominent position in the electric vehicle sector in our country. The Tata Nexon EV, to date, has recorded the highest sales among EVs in our market. Tata also offers other EV variants, including the Tiago EV and Tigor EV. The strategy of converting existing models into electric vehicles has proven to be a successful approach for this Indian automaker. Their next step is to implement this strategy with the Punch model, and there’s no apparent reason why it shouldn’t be successful once again. This move will expand the options for individuals seeking affordable Tata EVs. We eagerly await the availability of the Punch EV on the roads.
