Tata Punch EV Gets Design Inspiration from Nexon EV
The front fascia of the Tata Punch EV will likely mimic that of the new Nexon EV to a great extent. The test mules we’re seen so far, while draped in heavy camouflage, seem to bear a fascia that bears striking similarity with the latest EV from the carmaker. This Nexon-inspired facelift will align the Punch EV with one of Tata Motors’ successful EV models, creating a sense of continuity and a shared design language. However, while the front end receives a facelift reminiscent of the Nexon EV, the rest of the Punch EV retains the ICE counterpart’s exterior design. Some other more subtle updates one would find on the exterior are the new alloy wheels and the addition of ‘EV’ badges. Finally, the electric Punch could even get some EV-exclusive paint options.
Inside, the Tata Punch EV will get the same large-size 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment unit as the Nexon. The new infotainment system should enhance the overall user experience while providing access to a host of features. That said, the exact specifications of this system for the micro-SUV are still under wraps. It’s also not known if the touchscreen for the Punch EV would be the same as that of the Creative variant of the Nexon facelift or the one that has thinner bezels and is found in the Fearless variant.

Mystery Powertrain
While the Punch EV’s exterior and interior updates are grabbing attention, details about its powertrain remain shrouded in mystery. However, there’s a strong likelihood that the Punch EV will be powered by Tata Motors’ trusted Ziptron technology. This technology, already used in the Tata Tiago EV and Nexon EV, has earned a reputation for delivering impressive performance and range, making it a sensible choice for the Punch EV. However, we’re still a while away from getting exact details of the specifications
Launch on the Horizon: With the increasing frequency of test mule sightings, it’s safe to assume that the launch of the Tata Punch EV is drawing near. Speculations suggest that it could hit the market before the end of the year, just around the second-half of the upcoming festive season. Overall, Tata Motors’ commitment to expanding its EV lineup is evident in the development of the Punch EV. While it may borrow some design cues from its Nexon EV sibling, it will definitely turn out to be a good option for those on a lookout for an affordable electric sub-compact SUV. Once launched, the only direct rival will be the Citroen e-C3.
