Tata Nexon is slowly gaining its way to the top of the list of highest-selling compact SUVs in the country. The prime reason is its full 5-star Global NCAP safety rating.
A Tata Nexon owner has shared his experience of a massive accident involving the compact SUV. Nexon is the most crucial member of the Tata family that has propelled the Indian carmaker to the second spot on India’s largest car manufacturer in terms of monthly sales beating Hyundai. The massive popularity of the SUV is primarily due to its safety rating along with the latest features and bold design. Even the recent incident highlights its great crash worthiness. However, here are some peculiar aspects related to the aftermath of the accident.

Insurance Claim Rejected After Faulty Assessment
On the flip side, the owner reveals that his car wasn’t declared as “Total Loss” as at first, the repair cost of the vehicle was quoted to be around Rs 5 lakh. This is not a small amount and Tata Motors gave a timeframe of 3-6 months for total repair. However, Atish reports that it took 11 months for the service centre to finish the job and the final cost came down to Rs 7.5 lakh. In all probability, this would have happened due to the insurance company’s executive not realising the vehicle is a ‘total loss.’

Also, the insurance company (SBI General Insurance) is unwilling to pay for the repair citing a huge discrepancy in the time taken to repair the car along with the total cost of repair. The owner states that if the insurance company doesn’t pay the due amount, he will have no option but to drag SBI General Insurance to the Consumer Court to settle everything.

We have received an official response from the SBI General Insurance, it is as below-
“We received the motor claim request from the said customer on 16th March 2021 and had immediately looked into the matter. We also intimated the customer to submit the requisite documents for settling the claim. However, there was a long gap in the submission of the documents. After persistent reminders from SBI General, the documents were received on 29/1/2022, we will be processing the claim as per terms and conditions of the policy”. – SBI General Insurance Spokesperson.
With this, it does look like the owner of the Tata Nexon would finally receive the reimbursement he deserves. We’re constantly in touch with the owner as well as the insurer and will update the page with further developments.
