The Tata Nexon has been one of the more successful products from the homegrown carmaker. Available at a starting price of Rs 7.19 lakh (ex-showroom), this sub-4-metre offering is the most affordable SUV to have a 5-star adult protection rating from Global NCAP. By now, we’ve come across reports of several incidents wherein this vehicle has kept its occupants safe even on sustaining huge damage in a mishap. The images of the totalled Nexon you see below are from a similar report.

Posted by one Aamit Soni, these pictures show the mangled remains of a Tata Nexon XT that seems to have had a high-speed head-on collision with a tree. As can be seen, the front end of the vehicle has been completely damaged. In fact, the impact has been so severe that even the roof has caved in and the A- as well as B-pillars, have also been damaged. We’re not sure if the vehicle had more than one occupant but the owner has posted that he is safe even though his Nexon is “no more”. It must be noted here that the Nexon boasts of a full 5-star rating in adult protection and a 3-star rating in child protection by Global NCAP. While the high safety rating has definitely played a huge role in making the Nexon an obvious choice for all those looking for a high level of protection, it is incidents like above that have really helped the B-SUV earn a large fanbase.
