Tata Motors has unveiled the electric Nexon, its second offering in the EV space. The E-SUV is expected to be priced around Rs 15 Lakhs.
Advancing into the electric vehicle space, Tata Motors now brings its second EV in India. Tata has finally taken the wraps off the Electric Nexon. As of now, the manufacturer has just unveiled the E-SUV and the launch is scheduled to happen very soon. The bookings for the Nexon EV will commence on 20th December.
Electric Tata Nexon uses the new Ziptron EV technology that will also come on Tata’s future electric vehicles. It gets a 30.2 kWh lithium-ion battery pack which is placed under the floor, to maintain the perfect centre of gravity.
The electric motor is capable of producing 95 kW (129 BHP) and 245 Nm of peak torque, with a single-speed transmission. You can select the different driving modes like Drive and Sport through the rotary knob in the centre console. The Sport mode offers a power boost of up to 60%.

Electric Tata Nexon will offer a claimed driving range of more than 300 kms. Tata Motors will provide a standard AC charger with the car and the Nexon is also adaptable to fast chargers. DC fast chargers can charge the EV up to 80% in just an hour. The normal AC chargers will take around 8-9 hours to charge the EV fully.
The Nexon EV is available in three variants – XM, XZ and XZ+ Luxury. Features onboard include hill assist function, Automatic LED headlamps with LED DRLs, electric sunroof, Push Start Button, Wearable Key, Rain Sensing Wipers, Touchscreen Infotainment system by Harmon Kardon, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay and Brake Energy Regeneration.
The safety features list of the Nexon EV is the same that comes on regular Nexon. It gets dual front airbags, rear parking sensors, rear parking camera, Speed Alert System and Seat Belt Reminder. For the safety of the battery pack, it comes with IP67 rating, adaptive to dust, moisture and water.

As said earlier, the prices will be announced soon, expected by next month. It would most likely undercut the prices of Hyundai Kona and MG ZS electric SUV by nearly Rs 10 Lakhs. By next year, Mahindra is also expected to unveil the electric XUV300, which will be launched in 2021.
