The Tata Nexon is undoubtedly one of the safest cars on sale in the mainstream car market. There have already been many incidents of the B-SUV surviving some major crashes without as much as getting a scratch! In fact, even the owners of this SUV can’t seem to stop thanking this SUV enough for keeping them all safe and sound in an event of a crash. Quite unsurprisingly, the Tata Nexon EV, which, until recently, used to the most affordable electric car on sale in the country, has proven to be as robust as its ICE-powered sibling. Here is yet another example that not only shows the amazing build quality of the Nexon EV but also the questionable build of the Maruti Dzire.

Reported by one Saeed Arabi on Instagram, the accident whose visuals you can see above occurred in a sleepy town of Kerala. As per the video above, the accident took place when a Hyundai Santro braked abruptly and the Maruti Dzire following it had to panic brake to avoid collision. While the sub-compact sedan managed to not ram into the Santro, a Tata Nexon EV that was following it couldn’t stop in time and ended up rear-ending the hot-selling sedan.
As can be seen above, the rear-end of the Maruti Dzire has sustained some major damage. Both the taillights have been broken while the sheet metal has been left in a twisted mess. The impact has been so strong that the boot lid has been misaligned. Even the bumper has suffered some major damage. On the other hand, the Tata Nexon EV’s front-end has little damage. In fact, barring the bumper locks getting unfastened on the LHS, there’s hardly any other damage on it Close observation shows some minor scratch marks but those seem to be nothing that can’t be easily removed through a rubbing compound.

The above incident is yet another example of the great build quality of the Tata Nexon and the rather worrying quality of the Maruti Dzire. The Nexon EV has been rated a full 5-star score by Global NCAP but the Maruti Dzire is yet to be put to test by the safety-testing organisation. However, the third-ten Swift that it’s based on has scored a pretty worrying 2-star rating.
