A new spy shot of Tata Nexon has come up on the internet, which is reportedly its all-electric version. It is rumoured to launch in India by next year.
As the regular readers know, Tata Motors is working on mild-hybrid engines for its upcoming models. It is also working on fully-electrified vehicles for the Indian market as well.
From the existing lineup, Tata Nexon will also be getting an electric engine soon. An undisguised spy shot of the Nexon Electric version has come up on the internet, as per Team-BHP.
As you can see, there is no EV badging but the SUV does However, the upcoming version of the compact SUV will not be launched this year. It will most likely debut in India with BS-6 engines by 2020.

As of now, there are no details on the engine specifications available. However, we know that the company is working on two 48-volt electric motors at its European facility. As per earlier reports, the electric junction boxes have also been fixed.
Most likely, Tata Nexon and Altroz will be getting their electric versions earliest. The upcoming premium hatchback is scheduled to launch by the second-half of this year. By next year, both the models might get the new technology.
The petrol-hybrid version might also be available sometime later, as per reports. The 1.2 Litre Revotron petrol unit will most likely be used for the new technology.
Earlier reports suggested that with the inclusion of BS-6 engines, Tata might discontinue its 1.5 Litre Revotorq unit. However, it is confirmed that the manufacturer is already working on the BS-6 version of the diesel unit.

With Tata Nexon EV under works, the sub-4-metre compact SUV segment will have three electric models. Maruti Vitara Brezza is already equipped with the SHVS mild-hybrid technology and XUV300 EV is also launching soon.
Tata Motors is also considering many other EV launches by the next year. Tiago and Tigor EV are already allotted to the Government of India. The upcoming Altroz and H2X micro-SUV are also confirmed to get an electric motor.
